Taking care of your tooth brush is as important as taking care of your teeth. So, always rinse your tooth brush thoroughly after brushing and allow it to air-dry before using it again.

I never eat gutkha or any other injurious thing rather than on my teeth there is lots of yellowness please tell me to reduce yellowness naturally and what precautions required for this.

Hello Lybrate user, I appreciate you for not indulging in any hazardous habits. Teeth may look yellow coz of many other reasons as well. That can be because of staining of your teeth from external factors like over consumption of tea, coffee, wine (tartar present in tea and wine causes yellowness ), aerated drinks. Or there may be because of simply accumulation of plaque and tartar. Some internal factors such as intrinsic stains may also cause your teeth to appear yellow. Or even because of acidity. I would advise you to monitor your diet avoid spicy food which would regulate your acidity. Avoid or decrease the consumption of tea coffee aerated drinks. Visit your dentist for a quick scaling session if the discolouration is due to external factors. Like bulid up of plaque and tartar. Or you may contact us through Lybrate for any further details.

Is there any danger undergoing Root canal in the long run.I heard like my teeth will be dead and there is chance of anaerobic bacteria formation in that area.

BDS
Dentist, Delhi
Hi .Getting a RCT is completely safe.In this procedure we clean the nerve of the tooth.Enlarge it with our instruments so that the medicines we put in can completely clean it and make it bacteria free. This procedure is done to remove bacteria both aerobic and anaerobic from the root canal that are causing infection and causing the pain.We live with a lot of bacteria. They are in air,on land,on our skin,in our mouth. So there is nothing to worry about. We live with them mutually.

Taking a large no. of medications often leads to a dry mouth. Increase your fluid intake or ask your dentist about an artifical saliva product or chew sugarless gum after a meal to keep your mouth moist.

Instructions to patient's after extraction of tooth.

As a way of protecting the clot that has formed, during the first 24 hours following your extraction, you should ...

1. Avoid vigorous rinsing or spitting. These activities may dislodge the clot.
Stay away from hot liquids (soup, coffee) because they tend to dissolve blood clots.

2. Minimize air pressure differences.
You should also avoid creating air pressure variations in your mouth, or pressure differences between your mouth and your sinuses (in the case of an upper tooth extraction) because these events may dislodge the blood clot from its socket.

This means you should avoid smoking or using a straw (these activities create suction). Also, don't blow your nose. And if you need to sneeze, sneeze with your mouth open.

Myself is 35 years old / Male. I am feeling pain in my left jaw during full opening mouth from last month. I have consulted dentist, they have given their medicines but position is at it is. Last they have given 12 days tablet and folic acid tablet. Pain is reduced but still is there. What should I do/

BDS
Dentist, Ludhiana
Feeling pain on mouth opening is not sufficinet to make diagnosis. Might be joint involmnt, along with the medication provided, try few physiotherapy and mouth exercises. As in- keep your 2 fingers in a vertical manner on to the teeth and check whether you can open your mouth till vat cms and then keep on adding icecream sticks (horizontal ones) or try to open the two fingers. Keep a check that way. Do this only when you feel easy and comfortable, do not force urself for so. -warm saline rinses in the morning and evening may help -next go in for clinical diagnosis.

Hello, you can apply baking soda over it or do baking soda in water mouth rinses. This will heal your ulcer. If they still persist, you need to consult a physician.

Hello Doctor, I am a boy of 18 years old and have yellow teeth. I brush twice daily. What could I do to get my teeth whiten? Thank You.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Hi. The simplest method of removing minor surface stains is polishing, or micro-abrasion if staining is more intrinsic. Provided that your discolouration is not due to inadequate enamel exposing the dentin, tooth whitening (bleaching) is often the most effective treatment for yellow stained teeth. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use Snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply SNOWDENT paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min .Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results.

Chewing a sugarless gum after your meal for around 20 minutes freshens your breath and also make the leftover food particles cling to it.

I am also suffering from the bad breathing smell problem and power too. My tooth aches so badly that it causes headache. Guide for better tips and dentist too so that I can fill the decay tooth.

Hormonal changes in women increase sensitivity and may also lead to the occurrence of gingivitis.

I have bleeding issues in my teeth. And also have bad smell in my mouth while talking. What can I do for that.

Bad breath can b caused fue to various reasons. Due to smoking n using tobacco products, dental prob such as decay teeth, unclean tongue, gum infections, reduced saliva n dry mouth, ill fitting dentues, salivary gland probs. Other diseases n infections which also cause bad breath r sinus infections, respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis n pneumonia, liver n kidney probs, diabetes, acid reflux from stomach etc. Get scalling done by dentist. Use proper brushing techniques. Brush, floss n use mouthwash twice daily. Massage your gums with your finger tips after brushing. Keep your tongue clean. Rinse your mouth well after each meal. Get your decay teeth filled. Visit your dentist for dental checkups every 6 months to detect n prevent dental probs. Inspite of these measures if bad breath persists,

I have cavities between two teeth. Whenever I chew something the hollow gets filled with the food. It pains while removing. Please advise me to fix this problem. Should I replace both the teeth?

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
No need to get teeth replaced. Visit nearby dentist. If cavities are not deep then the problem can be solved with just filling of cavities with tooth colored composite materials in both adjacent teeth mostly.
