I have the habit of smoking but not frequently is there any symptoms for lung cancer.

DNB(Respiratory Diseases), MBBS
Pulmonologist, Jabalpur
More heavily a person smokes more risk he has for lung cancer. Also how many years one has smoked also increases the risk, on the other hand many non smokers also get lung cancer, that means there is definite risk of cancer with smoking, but it is not only the factor that may lead to lung cancer, there are other factors also that may cause lung cancer. Coming to symptoms you have asked, first thing to know is that most of the lung cancer patients get symptoms when their cancer has already reached an advanced stage. In other words, most of the patients have no symptoms when the lung cancer has just begin. The symptoms that may suggest the disease suspicion are; cough of some short duration, blood coughed out, chest pain, some times fever and loss of weight. Few patients may feel breathing difficulties. And lung cancer has cure only in early stage and not in advanced stage, so its anyone's guess that how risky it is, if someone gets symptoms of lung cancer, which occur usually at advance stage.

Milk is not harmful for the oral cancer patient. He should avoid too much spice in food. Also if he has undergone surgery and /or radiation, he should avoid extremes like very hot or very cold or very spicy things as there is loss of sensation in that area

Hi Doctor, can neck ultrasound detect Throat cancer? Can it give an clear understanding of Throat cancer?

MBBS, Diploma in Otorhinolaryngology (DLO)

The neck ultrasound will spot the nodal metastases but these findings have to be correlated with Direct Video-Laryngoscopy findings and confirmed by CT or PET-CTscans to stage the cancer and plan the treatment.

Giant cell glioblastoma WHO grade 4 occipital. I want the know how to cure this cancer without Radiology treatment any Ayurvedic treatment for this CANCER.

MD - Radiothrapy
Oncologist, Ahmedabad
HI Glioblastoma tumor has bad prognosis. If tumor is operable, then go for surgery followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy. If we do above treatment, overall survival is 2-3 yrs. If we do not, then survival is 6 -12 months glioblastoma is very aggressive tumor, my opinion is not to go for ayurveda treatment. Do radiotherapy treatment.

Renal Cancer - Signs You Must Not Ignore!

Interventional Nephrology, DM - Nephrology, MD - General Medicine, MBBS
Nephrologist, Bangalore
Renal Cancer - Signs You Must Not Ignore!

Renal cancer is also known as hypernephroma, renal cell carcinoma (RCC), kidney cancer or renal adenocarcinoma. The kidneys are organs in your body that dispose off waste, while additionally regulating fluid balance. There are small tubes in the kidneys called tubules. These filter the blood, help in discharging waste, and make urine. RCC happens when cancer cells start to grow out of control in the lining of the tubules of the kidney. Renal cancer is a progressive disease that spreads to the lungs and the organs around it.

Medical experts do not know the exact cause behind renal cancer. It is most commonly found in men between the ages of 50 and 70. There are some risk factors and signs that indicate one’s possibility of having renal cancer and these are as follows:

  1. Family history of renal cancer
  2. Dialysis treatment
  3. Hypertension or high blood pressure
  4. Obesity
  5. Smoking cigarettes
  6. Polycystic kidney disease (a condition that causes cyst formation in the kidneys)

At a point when renal cancer is in its initial stages, patients might not see any symptoms. The symptoms are mainly seen in the later stages. Some of the most common symptoms are as follows:

  1. Blood in urine: Blood in urine is called hematuria. As indicated by the Renal Cancer Association, hematuria is the most widely recognized indication of kidney cancer. In case you have blood in your urine, you may see pink, rust or even a red staining.
  2. Lower back pain: The vast majority does not encounter pain until cancer is in later stages. Pain from renal cancer is felt on one side of the flank, the region over the pelvis, and beneath the ribs in the abdomen. This pain can go from a dull yearn to a sharp wound, frequently leaving the area blue. In case you have any sudden pain that continues for more than a couple of days, you need to see a specialist.
  3. A mass or lump: A mass or protuberance in the abdomen can be an indication of renal cancer. Kidney knots might be hard to feel since they are somewhere down in the abdomen. Once a bump is found, your specialist may arrange symptomatic tests such as an ultrasound or a CT scan. These tests may diagnose what your knot might be.
  4. Iron deficiency and fatigue: Weakness and a fall in your iron levels are the most common symptoms of any type of cancer. Cancer exhaustion is not quite the same as simply feeling tired.
  5. Weight reduction, loss of appetite and fever: Another normal side effect of cancer is sudden and startling weight reduction. This happens quickly without any excessive workouts or dieting. A person diagnosed with cancer can also face a loss of appetite. In fact, even their most loved food items can get to be unappealing. Frequent fever is yet another common symptoms among most cancer patients.

In case your specialist suspects that you may have renal cancer, they will take some information about your and family’s medical history. They will then do a physical exam. Discoveries that can show renal cancer include swelling or irregularities in the stomach area. In case of men, augmented veins in the scrotal sac (varicocele) may be found. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Nephrologist.

Hi, My aunt is suffering from breast cancer (stage 3) and her age is 75 years. Cyto Pathology-FNAC report says, Cytological features are in favour of Ductal Hyperplasia with moderate atypia Cytology report: FNAc is positive for malignant cells, suggestive of mucinous carcinoma/mixed mucinous and invasive ductal carcinoma (NOS) Do we need to surgery? Considering her age is the surgery best option for her?

MD - Radiothrapy, MBBS
Oncologist, Pune
Before planning treatment we should consider her age and General health. If she is fit then for stage 3 there are two ways of treatment. We can go ahead with surgery if operable or we can give chemotherapy first to reduce tumor size and then do the surgery. She will need radiation therapy also for stage 3 disease.

Hi lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking help. Well, I would advise you to streamline your diet/ nutrition with focus on leafy greens and fresh fruits daily. Ensure a proper lifestyle with due room for relaxation and de-stressing. Exercise for at least 30 minutes regularly. Think positive, visualize success and stay focused. Yoga and meditation practice daily shall help develop focus and concentration. Plan your day realistically, and accomplish things accordingly. At the same time resist your compulsive urge, if any, to masturbate frequently. Should you require, you may as well consult a psychologist for the needful help here. Hope this helps. What is the causes of the cancer and what are the symptom of the cancer and how can we prevent from them?

MBBS
General Physician, Faridabad
Genetic changes that cause cancer can be inherited from our parents. They can also arise during a person’s lifetime as a result of errors that occur as cells divide or because of damage to DNA caused by certain environmental exposures. Cancer-causing environmental exposures include substances, such as the chemicals in tobacco smoke, and radiation, such as ultraviolet rays from the sun. fever, weakness, loss of appetite, loss of wt, bleeding, fatigue, depends upon the organ involved. thanks
