I am 21 years old I have some fat in the chest from 12 yrs. How can I reduce the fat in the chest .I read somewhere it is caused due to imbalance of hormone levels of testosterone .Then what should I do. How can I increase testosterone levels or is there any natural methods to decrease the fat. Or should I undergo any surgery.

You seem to be having gynaecomastia or commonly male breast. It develops during puberty with production of oestrogen in addition to testosterone. If it does not settle by 17 to 18 years of age treatment is surgical procedure of liposuction with or without gland excision under local anaesthesia without hospital admission.

You should consult an endocrinologist at present. If the problem increases or remains the same till 17 years then you should consult a plastic surgeon

You seem to be having a condition called gynecomastia for which the only solution is male breast reduction surgery to be performed by a plastic surgeon. Medicines, diet and exercises do not work.

Male breast or gynecomastia reduction. Is one of the most frequently performed office surgeries and we are the pioneers in central india since last 30 years. To the best of our knowledge no medicines or creams work to decrease the breast size. Gynecomastia is treatable by surgery. There is no medical treatment. It is a one day out patient surgery with very gratifying results. It boosts self esteem also. The Dr. Can examine and tell you what is the problem, gynacomastia has a breast tissue and a fat component. No one wants surgery unless it is necessary. There is no medication which can give the results. Surgery is the only answer. The surgery is almost painless because there are enough medications to keep the pain under control. We need to examine the patient to know what is wanted and what can be done and to work out how much, when, where, etc we need to examine the patient to know what is wanted and what can be done and to work out how much, when, where, it can be a day care surgery or 1 day hospital stay. There is no bed rest but 3-5 days are required for recovery and 10 days for full recovery. In 3 weeks you can go the the gym. Gynacomastia is not a disease but excess response to hormones. If it does not bother you you don't have to get it removed. As long as the breast size is big it is taken as gynacomastia which could be because of more fat or more breast tissue or a mixture of the two. Hot or cold weather can change the nipple size.

Dear lybrate-user, medicines are helpful in managing gynaecomastia. It can be tried for 6-12 months. In few patients who are not improving with medicines, surgery is necessary. Your gynaecomastia is cause of increased body weight. You need to lose body weight by 20-30 kgs. I can help you in that.

Can Surgery Help Reduce Enlarged Breasts In Men?

Can Surgery Help Reduce Enlarged Breasts In Men?

Men also suffer from breast enlargement, medically called gynecomastia. This usually happens when the levels of female sex hormones, in the affected male, overshadow the male sex hormone levels.

Gynecomastia is different from fat accumulation in the male upper chest. It is typically characterised by an increase in the glandular tissue, which can produce milk.

Lots of adolescent boys suffer from male breast enlargement due to the adolescent hormonal surge, though, the condition can present in men at any age. Adolescents lose the breast enlargement typically in periods ranging from 6 months to a year. Beyond this period, a man with enlarged breasts has to seek medical intervention for treatment.

Typically, gynecomastia occurs due to certain medications like for renal failure and hypertension. It can also be caused due to conditions like hyperthyroidism or kidney failure, liver cirrhosis or problems with testes which causes changes in hormones in the male body.

Treatments-

Whatever be the reason, gynecomastia is a deeply distressing condition for men of all ages. Treatments are available, both surgical and medicinal and they help especially surgery.

Male Breast Reduction Surgery- Facts

Surgery for male breast reduction can be performed safely and successfully on teenagers and adult men alike.

In male breast reduction surgery, the surgeon makes an incision around the nipple and removes the excess glandular tissue and fats causing the appearance of the breast. This is the only effective treatment for gynecomastia that has long-lasting, if not permanent, results. Male breasts may also appear due to excess fat in the upper chest. Liposuction is generally very effective in treating this. The surgeon removes fats and some glandular tissue and then sculpts a new chest contour that looks natural for your body.

More severe cases of gynecomastia may require more than this. The surgeon has to then go for something called ‘surgical tissue excision’ to achieve optimal results. Older males with gynecomastia with sagging skin also require tissue excision. This technique allows the surgeon to remove a major chunk of glandular tissue and/or skin that cannot be successfully removed by mere liposuction.

If you are planning to go for breast reduction surgery, find the best cosmetic surgeon. This will go a long way in you getting the best results and minimise scars.

Also be prepared for the after-effects of the surgery. Even though it is typically performed as an outpatient procedure using general anaesthesia or local anaesthesia with sedation, you must be prepared for soreness and swelling. Recovery time is usually a week and a patient is often given a compression garment to wear for the first few weeks after surgery to support the healing breast tissue. Also, be prepared to be off exercise for a month or so after surgery. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a endocrinologist and ask a free question.

Dear lybrate-user, the problem you are mentioning is called gynecomastia and it is a common problem among males. There are many causes for this problem including: 1. Drugs 2. Hormonal disturbances 3. Testicular problems 4. Liver problems 5. But most common is idiopathic (no particular cause). If you rule out other causes, then the only management is surgery (which is a relatively minor procedure). You need to be examined and investigated thoroughly.

I am suffering from gynecomastia. Slight amnt of fat is deposited in my chest not much. Bt its lukng awkward how to avoid?

Gynecomastia can be due to many reasons - drug intake, endocrinal (hormonal) problems, metabolic causes or pubertal gynecomastia. Here there is enlargement of breast due to fatty or glandular component of breast. Get serum testosterone, prolactin and thyroid profile done. Medicines can correct gynecomastia only in cases of hormonal problems otherwise they are not effective. Surgical correction of gynecomastia can be done by liposuction and sos gland excision. It's a safe and near scarless procedure. Consult a plastic surgeon for that. You can share your problems in more details along with the photographs also.
