Is chewing gum like happydent and orbit actually good and healthy for our teeth? If not recommend something better.

Is chewing gum like happydent and orbit actually good and healthy for our teeth? If not recommend something better.
chronic consumption of chewing gums sometimes causes side effects because too much xylitol has been known to draw too much water into the gut with it or it may get fermented in the gut by intestinal bacteria which results in nausea, bloating, diarrhea and a psychological feeling of dependence. Apart from these most of the chewing gum contains aspartame, which in the body is broken down to phenylalanine, few of the people have genetic abnormality to metabolise it. So it leads to phenylketonuria in them. This informations are usually mentioned in most of the chewing gum brands.

I am having pain in my molar teeth while eating any cold things. What should I do?

I am having pain in my molar teeth while eating any cold things. What should I do?
Treatment dental pain teeth pain may be due to various reasons like infection, sensitivity or trauma. If your teeth is decayed it is better to get it filled or treated by a dentist. If you are opting for root canal treatment do not forget to get a crown on the effected tooth. If you want to go for only medicinal treatment so let me tell you only medicine are not going to be very effective untill you get this treated by a dentist.

I am 61 male having bitterness in mouth. Could you tell me why and remedy please.

BDS, MDS
Dentist, Gorakhpur
I am 61 male having bitterness in mouth. Could you tell me why and remedy please.
There are way to many causes for your problem. Few of them are use of various medications like antibiotics etc, diabetes, liver disorders, kidney disorders etc. If you are apparently normal and healthy individual, a more precise local cause can be present in your mouth that is accumulated plaque, calculus and/ or tongue coating. Age related degenerative changes another cause for your bitter taste. I would suggest you to meet a nearby dentist and let him find the cause. A better treatment can be done only after exact diagnosis of your problem. Meanwhile you can use Listerine or non alcohol based mouthwash to gurgle twice daily. Thank you.

Hi doctors, I have dental problem, means when i brush blood bleeds from my teeth and bad smell comes after few hours of the morning brush. I have tried different tooth pastes, but no use. So please suggest me to do something. Thanks in advance

MDS - Orthodontics
Dentist, Rajnandgaon
First and the foremost you require professinal scaling and do regular togue cleaning. You must start using chlorhexidine mouth wash twice daily. Have something light frequently so that your salivary flow stimulus is maintained through out. And it will reduce halitosis.

Eat lot of fruits & green leafy vegetables & drink plenty of water. Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need Coronoplasty (smoothen teeth edges)

What is a Dental Implant? Is It Right For Me?

Certified Implantologist, BDS
Dentist, Chennai
What is a Dental Implant? Is It Right For Me?
Have you ever had the dream where one or more of your teeth fall out? What do you do if you lose a tooth in real life?
One option is to get a dental implant. This is a procedure where an Implantologist surgically places an artificial tooth that’s surgically fused in the jawbone—a fantastic long-term option for tooth replacement. Decades ago, if you lost a tooth, your choices were a fixed bridge or removable dentures. Fixed bridges rely on neighboring healthy teeth as anchors, which can have a negative impact on them down the road. And, removable dentures can slip or make embarrassing clicking sounds when you speak.
A dental implant—made of titanium metal—fuses to the jawbone, serving as the root of the missing tooth. Unlike fixed bridges, which may need to be replaced two and three times during a lifetime, implants are durable and rarely, if ever, need to be replaced.
