Ulcers in the mouth may result from irregular sleep and diet habits. Malnutrition also is a cause. Genetic factors also contribute which result in cycles of ulcers round the year. Eat balanced diet. Take any vitamin supplements for a month. Gargle your mouth with warm salt water whenever you have ulcers.

Dr. I have a great cavity in my teeth I want to remove it can I remove my cavity at home.
•If your cavity in the tooth is caused by decay, your dentist will remove the decayed area and replace it with a filling. •If the pulp inside your tooth is infected, you may need root canal treatment. This procedure involves removing the infected pulp and then inserting a special type of filling to seal the tooth and prevent re-infection.

Lybrate-user, if your teeth a badly decayed, as they have been diagnosed by your dentist, the only avenue available to you for saving the teeth would be getting root canal treatment done at the earliest or else you will end up losing those teeth at this young age. If money is a genuine problem, you can discuss it with your dentist who may be able to guide you to some charitable / government hospital for the same.

I have pain at my jaw joints, its hard for me to close or open my mouth any solutions for that.

MDS - Oral Medicine and Radiology, BDS
Dentist, Ahmedabad
Hi, pain in jaw joint at a young age should be treated as early as possible. Get a dental check up as irregular teeth, improper bite or improper chewing pattern can cause that. Also get an opg done so that we can view all teeth and both jaw joints. Meanwhile, have soft food and don't check for pain by repeating jaw movements. Take a painkiller tablet for temporary relief. Visit an oral medicine specialist or an oral surgeon for complete treatment. Regards.

During brushing blood are coming what I do and also bad smelling in mouth suggest medicine please.
Gastritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. Kindly consult a physician & dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with surgical, gum strengthening procedure. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash after every meals. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. I have severe pericoronitis .the swelling won't let me sleep and my neck is stiff .please tell me do I have to get the gums surgically removed? My dentist said it's not that serious and the swelling will go away after antibiotics. But I am scared to eat lots of medicines. Kindly suggest.

I have severe pericoronitis .the swelling won't let me sleep and my neck is stiff .please tell me do I have to get th...
Regards Please understand what pericoronitis is before you do anything else. It is a physical problem where food particles and plaque accumulate beneath a small area of gingiva overlying a lower third molar. Because of this, it gets inflamed and swells up. Because of the swelling, it gets chewed upon by corrosponding upper tooth. This causes further damage and further aggravates the inflammation and thus swelling. This become a viscious cycle. Because of some antibiotics, painkillers and anti-inflammatory medications, the current episode might resolve only to cause a another episode because the physical problem has not been corrected. This problem is sort of new to our generation based on evolutionary explanations. Our jaw sizes are reducing while the number and size of teeth remains the same. Thus the third molars are generally partially covered by bone and/ or gingiva from the back. This causes third molar impaction or pericoronitis. I would strongly suggest that you stop beating around the bush and get that third molar extracted given that you are unable to sleep because of the severity of this episode. If not indicated in your particular case, consider laser operculectomy (removal of excessive gingiva covering a third molar by laser to cause minimal swelling). It might seem drastic, but take some time and consider the various episodes of pain and swelling that you will have to face unnecessarily because of a tooth that is not as useful in chewing.
