My son is 7 years old. But he eats very less and shows tantrums on forcing him to eat. We're always worried about this. He's also very weak and short as compared to kids of his age. We consulted a child health specialist and the tests show that his intestines are very sensitive which creates problem in digestion. We tried many cures and medicines but all in vain. Please help me out on this.

In my experience small quanity highly calorie dense stuff like kheer, eggs, soya based food even soya milk are good to provide more calories. Market made dew protein rich powders are also available and works for whose happy to have milk but not rest of food. Few hunger stimulators time being can be prescribed and you may rule out a condition known as" gerd. Chornic cause of gastritis.

My baby is 3.6 years but she is born this time the doctor saw her head is some small he tell me everything is fine no problem. But next two years suddenly I have look him she is mrigi patient I have consult doctor then I have two time brain mri and one time (what is the marks test? I loose my memories) the marks test is abnormal then I am treating now syrup EPIVAL consulted by doctor. But baby not speaking properly sentence by sentence and which time of this disease for end please

MRCPCH (London), DNB Paediatrics
Pediatrician, Mumbai
Hi Mr. lybrate-user. I hope you want to say Mirgi ki bimaari matlab Convulsions. Your baby has small head size and convulsions. Also baby is recieving Epival which is a good anti epileptic drug. Your baby also underwent MRI brain twice. This all suggests that she has some organic and functional problems which is not good for me to guess without examining your child and going through all the investigation reports. So it is not possible to comment on prognosis of the disease. Children of 3.5 year old are not fluent in speaking also they do make a sentence of 2-3 words only. Many times only parents can understand what child wants to speak. Your baby has some issues and she is on medication hence we don't expect her to outperform in speaking. If she understands your spoken language and follows commands also if she is able to ask for things she wants then there won't be any difficulty for her to catch up speaking in near future. Speak to your paediatrician when you consult him next time.

Cheek rashes may e associated with staph infection. Thus nail rubbing increases chances of infection. Better to use calamine lotion preparation if noinfection and wash face two three times with dettol or lifebouy soap. It will help to heal.

We have good homeopathic medicines for asthma, cold allergy and many other respiratory diseases. But the recurrency of your disease needs to be broken, which is possible only by constitutional homeopathic medicines. For this, we need to record all your physical as well as psychological symptoms, so that proper treatment is to be started then. So do book an online appointment for detailed case to be taken and treatment to be started as soon as possible. I am a 26 year old mother. My daughter is 12 months old. Her birth weight was 3 kg and now she is 9 kg. Her birth length was 45 cm and now she is 73 cm. Head circumference was 32 cm at birth and now it is 42.3 cm. She started walking around 9 and half months. There has been no developmental delay, she has reached milestones little earlier than others infact. She is doing good, understands many things, points at things. She is friendly as well. My concern is that she has a very flat nasal bridge, epicanthal folds, slightly slanted eyes. I have slanted eyes too and so does my father. Her face is small and her teeth are also somewhat odd. She has 6 teeth as of now. The upper jaw looks like it is pulled back, the lower jaw is more in the front and the upper jaw is backwards. I am very worried about many things right now. She is my first born. Please advise.

Your concern is very much desirable. She seems to be alright as many features you told coincides with parental features. If you feel/ suspect any syndromic/ developmental errors in her growth please take her to a qualified pediatrician in your area. We can not guess without having a look on her body structures. There are many syndromes with overlapping features you told which has to be diagnosed properly. You can send a close picture of her face, your face and her father also if you need a better opinion regarding this. We can co- relate with any familial abnormality running in generations.

Benefits of Dogs and Children Growing Up Together!

MVSc
Veterinarian,

1. Constant Companionship

Although childhood isn't always easy, having a pet provides constant companionship through the ups and downs. Dogs can be a great source of comfort for kids — even when they're coming to grips with difficult life lessons. Whenever kids feel sad, angry, or afraid, they can always turn to their pet. Petting and cuddling dogs has also been shown to relieve stress and help people relax.

2. A More Active Lifestyle

Caring for a dog also encourages a more active lifestyle. In fact, a recent study showed that kids with dogs exercise eleven minutes a day more than their non-dog owning peers. That might not sound like a lot, but over a week or month, it really adds up. Many dogs require daily walks or runs and plenty of play time. Those adorable puppy eyes they give you are sure to motivate you — even when you're not feeling up to it.

3. Learning Responsibility

Having a pet is a great way to teach responsibility to kids. Making sure that the family dog has food and water gives children a first glimpse of accountability and obligation. Children also learn empathy and compassion by caring for their pet, while developing a higher level of self-esteem by taking care of their pet-owning responsibilities.

4. Health Is Wealth

Recent studies have found that babies raised in close contact with a pet get sick less often in their first year of life, meaning fewer visits to the doctor's office. Exposure to pet dander and the microbes that pets carry into the home from the outdoors is suggested to improve babies' developing immune systems. Research has also found that children who grow up with dogs experience a reduced risk of allergies.

5. Don't Worry, Be Happy!

Perhaps one of the greatest benefits of dogs in early childhood is simply that they make children happy! Interaction with animals has been proven to raise levels of serotonin and dopamine, which are the chemical building blocks of positive feelings. All science aside, playing and interacting with dogs is just plain fun — and it's bound to brighten any kid's day.

His expected wt at this age should be about 7 kg. If baby is active probably he is not getting sufficient feed. Increase either quantity or a number of feed that may be helpful else consult your pediatrician.
