For leg pain, please follow the below advise: keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day.

Please do a x-ray of the affected area first to diagnose the case. Secondly do hot and cold compress alternately till the time you get relief. Third take Mag phos 12x - twice daily for next 7 days and get back to me.

Hunching over a desk is a leading reason why people end up with crippling back pain at some point in their lives. But a few simple changes in the way you work can make your pain go away. 1-Keep your head up; Focus on aligning your head and neck right above your shoulders; avoid straining forward. 2-Be choosy with your chair: Pick one that allows your lower back to rest against a lumbar support. Then tilt the back of the chair so it’s very slightly reclined. 3-Plant your feet: Keep them flat on the floor and shoulder-width apart to quiet tension in your knees and ankles. 4-Take breaks: Getting up at least once an hour— just do some shoulder rolls—reduces pressure on spinal disks and boosts circulation. Standing for long periods of time can contribute to lower back pain. This is a low dull pain sometimes felt in the base of the spine. This form of pain is amplified with periods of stress, poor posture, weak abdominals and/or excessive body weight. There are many exercises that should be performed to address the issue of back pain from standing. These exercises try to relieve both the tightness and imbalances in the lumbar spine. They also serve to reduce the added pressure that your facet joints are subjected to. If your back pain is severe please go to a Physiotherapist for detail assessment and management of your pain. Get vitamin d checked and start with cervical isometric exercises and cold packs. Keep pain killer requirement to minimum, increase the exercises level as per pain tolerance and look at your posture.

Lower Back Pain - Do I Need Physical Therapy?

Lower back pain is fast becoming an epidemic not just among elderly, but across all age groups. Primary causes of back pain are quite a few including lumbar hernia, disc degenerative disease (DDD), spondylosis etc., but the symptoms are usually the same excruciating pain in the lower region of the spine, followed by stiffness. Since back pain is caused due to a number of spinal problems, it manifests differently in different patients. The pain may be dull, burning or sharp. It could also be felt at a single point or over a broad area and could be accompanied by muscle spasms or stiffness or even shooting pain in one or both legs.

Back pain can also be differentiated according to time period:

  1. Acute: Pain lasts for less than three months.
  2. Recurrent: Acute symptoms reoccur over time.
  3. Chronic: Pain lasts longer than three months.

Sometimes symptoms resolve on their own, but in many cases conservative treatment, such as physiotherapy, which often work better than surgery, becomes essential. Alternate therapies like surgery, acupressure, acupuncture as well as yoga and Ayurveda also help.

Physiotherapy - Exercises that work
Since the reason for low back pain is not always same, a patient’s treatment too should be tailored for his specific symptoms and condition. This is what the physiotherapist will do design an exercise plan based on the patient’s specific problem and its cause.

Physiotherapy treatments may include:

  1. Manual therapy, which includes direct spinal manipulation aimed at improving the mobility of joints and soft tissues
  2. Strengthening and flexibility exercises
  3. Education about what do and what not to do
  4. Training for proper sleeping positions, lifting, bending, and sitting as well as for working at home and at work
  5. Use of heat/cold treatments or electrical stimulation to help relieve pain

Physiotherapy exercises help support the back and strengthen muscles so that the spine is cushioned properly. This is why physiotherapy is relevant as a treatment for backache. Treatments like traction help in lengthening the spine and relieving compression of nerves that cause sciatica, radiating pain into legs largely due to lumbar herniation. If back pain is extreme, a patient will require physical therapy along with medication, which will help in managing pain and bringing inflammation down. But in the long term, being physically active, going for walks, sitting properly and maintaining a good posture will help the most. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a physiotherapist.

Avoid forward bending repeatedly. Do hot water fermentation with added salt in it two times a day. Do back strengthening exercises thrice a day. You may get relief from pain. Your back pain can be treated with homeopathy. Take care.

Hello, Take Schwabe’s Alpha-CF and Biocombination-11, both after every 2 hourly for 4 days. Management: -Sponging or bathing with tepid water. The use of a fan or air conditioning may somewhat reduce the temperature and increase comfort. Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. This will relieve your problem. Consult after 10 days.

Calf pain after running is due to muscle cramps. Follow these to get relief and avoid the problem. 1. Consume plenty of liquids after and during runs. At least 1 litre of water for 1 hour of running. 2.Take healthy snack after running like fruits or oats or chicken or dal. 3 Take shower with cold water to relieve body soreness after runs. Apply ice pack on calf muscles after running. 4. Always do stretching of back and leg muscles before starting your run. 5. Take a break of at least one day a week . 6. Be gradual in your runs. Gradual increase in speed and distance of run is recommended. 7. Do not run with improper shoes. Wear good shoes with sole support. 8. Avoid running when pain is present. If problem persists consult again.
