I am 25 years old man my younger brother complaint me from last 4 years that when I was sleeping then I rub my teeth very hard and for long time actually I never take this issue serious I always think that he is just joking but from last 6 months I was living with my friends in Chandigarh when they complaint me that daily in the night I rub my teeth very hard and for long time. I am so worried about this issue so please tell me that how I will overcome from this issue and also tell me the reason why I was facing this issue and side effects of teeth rubbing.
We all look at pictures of our favorite celebrities and long to have that perfect while smile showing off well-aligned teeth. However, due to various reasons, our teeth do not seem to be like theirs. Some of the reasons for the not-so-white teeth include:
- Food habits like excessive cola, coffee, tea
- Tobacco chewing and smoking
- Fluoride deposits seen in people in which the community water has excessive fluoride content
- Side effect of medications like tetracyclines.
However, with teeth achieving major cosmetic value, a lot of developments have happened and now a set of white pearls need not just be a dream. Whether it is just one tooth which is oddly colored or the entire set has taken on a darker shade, teeth whitening procedure comes to the rescue. It is well within the reach of most people, with options that can be managed both in the office and at the convenience of your homes.
Whatever the technique, the basic chemical is the same, hydrogen peroxide, which is a well-known bleaching agent. This works very well on extrinsic stains and may take repeated visits to the dentist to whiten teeth with intrinsic stains like fluorosis.
Things to remember:
Before going ahead with teeth whitening, the dentist will inform you that:
- Cavities need to be treated before teeth can be whitened
- Receded gums need to be treated before teeth whitening
- Any crown work that is pending should be done before the teeth whitening can be done.
Once all the above mentioned things have been take care of, the next step is to clean the teeth completely. This cleaning will ensure that your teeth are free of bacteria and other deposits. The patient's impressions are then taken to make customized trays.
The dentist will provide you with a kit, which contains the trays and the bleaching material. The material should be applied on to the trays, left in place in the mouth to produce the bleaching effect. This may need to be repeated for about 2 to 3 weeks.
Whitening can be done on vital teeth or on non-vital teeth-
- Vital teeth are usually bleached in the clinic, where the bleaching agent is applied on the tooth. It is then activated by a laser light to produce the active chemical that whitens the teeth. If the staining is excessive, then in-house vital tooth whitening may be followed by a couple of home applications.
- Non-vital teeth: Teeth which are root canal treated turn brown over a period of time. Whitening these root canal treated teeth is known as non-vital tooth whitening.
So, if you are not happy with your set of teeth, there is always a solution – get them whitened and see your smile broaden.

Know about different type of Dental Braces
People often ask me this question that what is the age limit to every braces treatment they have this lingering question in their mind what is the right age and what is the right time to get braces in the mouth? The answer to this question is there is no age limit in short no age bar for braces, so what happens is these people who didn't get the braces fitted in the mouth during the childhood think that they have to carry this crooked teeth throughout the life, which is not the case.
In the past there has been an increase of people getting braces in adulthood as well, the reason for this demand in society is a demand for aesthetics. I want to look good and also because of the digitisation people have a lot of access to the information through Internet, Facebook and social media and hence people want to look better and in this teeth have a major role to play. Also with the modernization we have been able to develop some good appliances including better braces. We have been able to develop some devices which are both aesthetic as well as comfortable for the patient. 1 cool example being ceramic braces they look good and are very less visible to others.
The Other form of braces are the lingual braces which are also called as The Invisible braces they are placed from the inside of the teeth duct. They also have some drawbacks like patients have discomfort while speaking and while eating food. These problems are dealt with the latest form of braces known as the customise lingual braces or customise invisible braces because the brackets are customised as per the person. They are CAD/CAM based and the wires are perfectly bent as per the person, hence the problem of speech and discomfort are taken care. These braces can be applied at any point of time even at 40 or 50 years so people who have problems in smiling in the social circle can be dealt with.
A lot of people when advised that they need to put on braces the first question is Dr how should I put braces at this age? The question that I ask is why do you think so?The answer given is that I look very awkward in the braces but with these lingual customise braces there is a solution to that.Hence what I said earlier that age is no bar for braces and with the aesthetic options coming up, people of any age at any point of time in their life can put on braces without compromising with their social life and social circle as customise lingual braces are so much invisible that you will actually have to tell people that you are wearing braces. Nobody would actually get to know that you are wearing braces or not.
So in short age is no not a bar for braces you can always contact me through lybrate
