My son is 26 days old today and is having a central apnea issue in breathing. He is currently on bipap but drs are recommending that we go for tracheostomy which we are reluctant to. Please can we have some opinion please? Will babies be able to outgrow central apnea issue? Thank you.

Hello, under central apaenea ,central nervous system fails to communicate signal to muscles to start breathing, treceostomy is a temporary rescue management as a matter of fact, your child 's brain needs medication to restore natural breathing. Homoeopathy can help to checking breathing disorder as well as boosting of brain. Tk, care.

Pediatrician,
Pls lybrate doctors, suggest some milk and gluten free baby food both liquid and solid.
Breast and dairy milk is good and are gluten free. Avoid gluten containing product like wheat, rye, barley, and all their products. Gluten free products are fruit, vegetables, nuts, rice, beans and legumes. Gluten free diet can be well prepared at home. I do not prefer branded product so I do not name of market product. Pls check in the market.

Hi. My 14 month old son has been waking up every hour at night since a month. Otherwise he would sleep at least 3 to 4 hrs at a stretch and then wake up for feed and back to sleep. I don't given him milk during the day just at night for his feeds. Please advise. Thanks.

Is cerelac good for a 7 months baby? Or should we opt for natural products (like fruits, Oats etc.)

Is cerelac good for a 7 months baby? Or should we opt for natural products (like fruits, Oats etc.)
Why feed with artificial products when we have all the natural food available in the market. Cerelac is good. But even that contains added preservatives. Why feed the baby chemicals? I'd suggest you to go for natural products instead.

Respected Doctors:- Question for my daughter:-14 Year old girl (Height 156 cm Weight 46Kg). Every day morning, she is getting sneezing continuously for around 8-10 times within 15 minutes. Also one of the eye gets reddish. When we asked our local doctor, doctor told both sneezing and eye reddishness are only due to an allergy. Doctor told to put a eye drop OLOPAT OD and another eye drop HICool (one after the other after 10 minutes) for one month for curing the redness. For the sneezing trouble, doctor prescribed a tablet Mont air for 10 days. We have put eye drops for 1 month and she has taken the tablet Mont air for 10 days. But still she is getting eye reddishness, even after one month now. Sometimes the reddishness disappear without any medicine, after few hours. Since this issue is continuing, I would like to know (1) What would be possible cause for this issue. (2) Do we need to really worry and take care about this immediately? What is the name for this kind of allergy?(3) Could you please kindly let me know any eye tests to be taken to identify the real issue. Thanks a lot for your kind suggestion/help.

General Physician, Delhi
Your daughter is suffering from allergy. Allergy may be due to change in weather, dust, pollution, etc. Best solution is use some kind of oil drops in her nose daily. One drop both nostrils. This remedy will help only after 1mth. Meanwhile ask her to take four black pepper pills with 1 teaspoon of sugar or honey twice a day.

I have 5 month old baby and I wanna know for how many minutes I boil water for milk.
If you are interested to give top milk, start with dairy milk n continue breastfeeding. Weaning time is also near by. Boiling is not related to time but to well boiling.

Dronis 20 is a contraceptive pill designed specially for feeding mothers so that milk production is not reduced. That is why estrogen content is 20 and not 30. Best contraception for you is iucd or copper t and if that is not suitable then only dronis 20 to be started.

Children are the stars of everyone’s eyes. Their dazzling smile brightens everyone’s day. These beautiful teeth not only enhance their smile but are required for chewing, speech and normal growth & development. From childhood itself these pearly whites need care and protection. On getting infected, treating these very teeth can be a daunting task. "Baby teeth" are as important to infants and children as prermanent teeth are to older children and adults. Children's teeth actually start to form before birth! The first primary (”baby” or “milk”) tooth can appear in an infant as young as 6 months

Why are Milk teeth important?
As milk teeth fall out, it is a common misconception that they do not matter.
The primary teeth have a number of important roles:
• Essential in the first step of digesting food: chewing, biting and grinding
• Allow good pronunciation and speech habits
• Encourage normal development of the jaw bones and muscles
• Ensure there is enough room for permanent teeth to erupt
• Help your child feel comfortable about the way he/she looks
• Guide the permanent teeth to erupt at the correct position in the dental arch since the permanent teeth grow under the milk teeth
• Also, your child's general health can be affected if diseased baby teeth aren't treated.

Remember, some milk molars are not replaced until age ten to fourteen, so they must last for years

What would happen if milk teeth are not taken care of?
Tooth decay and disease present in milk teeth can cause pain and discomfort and can easily pass on to permanent teeth as they erupt. Milk molars remain in the mouth until around 10 to 12 years of age with lots of opportunity to pass decay on to their new permanent neighbors. If it spreads to the root, an infection in a decayed milk tooth can damage the developing permanent tooth lying directly underneath. Consequently, the permanent tooth may erupt either in the wrong position or may not erupt at all i.e. it may remain embedded in the gums.

Also, they are trained and qualified to treat special needs patients. Paediatric dentists have a holistic approach of handling a child patient whereby the dental visit becomes a pleasant experience and not a nightmare. The very reason they are well versed with the psychology of the child which aids in execution of treatment effectively & efficiently simultaneously instilling a positive dental attitude in those little ones

My brother aged of 9 years his palms were very rough. Due to heat in body, these cracks on his two palm wouldn't able to do anything else. He couldn't able to eat with is hand. Its very painful to him. He is using Safi medicine and applying boroline. please can you give any more suggestion regarding this.

MD - Homeopathy
Pediatrician, Mumbai
Tell him to apply a very good moiturising cream 2-4 times daily and overnight also. This will keep his skin soft. Use a mild handwash and after every handwash always apply moiturizer on dry palms and increase your water intake and amount of citrus fruits in your diet to get that vitamin c which is good for skin.

I have an 8 month old baby. I am still breastfeeding him but also started mashed solid like biscuits, roti, dal, rice, fruits etc. I give him almost everything we eat but in well Cooked mashed form. I want to wean him off feeding now. My query is can I give him buffalo milk mixed in 50% boiled water? Or is it necessary to give him cow milk only?

Hi lybrate-user I see that your child is 8 months old. It's great that you have started weaning. You don't need to stop breast feeding till 2 yr. If you wish to give milk pasteurised milk is better.

My daughter age 13 years is suffering from epilepsy from last about one year but it is diagnosed 6 months back. Is epilepsy fully curable and what medicine should we give to her?

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS

Unlike previously thought epilepsy is curable now with medications which have to be continued for a period of 3 to 5 years. Medications depend upon the type epilepsy. Consult a good pediatrician or a neurologist.

My child is 7 and 1/2 yrs and has been detected with celica desires how much r the chances of getting it cute and wht future to take care of? is it the wheat has to be completed stopped? or if consumed by mistakenly as she's a child how far it wil harm her?

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Tumkur
There is no permanent treatment for coeliac disease. Best way is to avoid wheet and wheet containing food items as chemical substance called gliadin present in those items is responsible for the problem.
