Look after your hair this Holi in these 3 effective ways

Holi is the ever exuberant festival of colors where everyone indulges in fun and frolic. Traditionally played with natural colors derived from flowers, Holi is now celebrated with harmful, toxic and inorganic colors that can really leave you with ruined hair and skin post celebration. These colors comprise of dyes, chemicals, glass powder and metals such as mica - all of which have extremely harmful effects on your skin and hair.

The colors used during Holi can cause your hair to become dull and brittle and may even induce a condition known as acute irritant contact dermatitis, which causes redness, irritation and burning of the scalp area.

Follow these tips to take care of your hair and scalp as you enjoy the festival.

1.Oil your hair

Apply oil to your hair about an hour before you play Holi to maximize the penetration of the oil into the scalp. Oil prevents the color from settling down into your hair, thus, making it easier to remove later on. It also acts as a shield by providing protection from chemicals and dirt, and can help in preventing your hair from becoming dry and frizzy due to prolonged exposure to colors and the sun.


2.Cover your tresses

Tie your hair up in a bun or ponytail to minimize its contact with harmful colors. If possible, cover your hair with a scarf or shower cap to protect it from the damage.

3.Wash your hair the right way

Thoroughly rinse your hair with plain water to get rid of dirt, dry colors, chemicals and the mica particles contained in it. After that, apply a mild shampoo on your hair, gently massaging your hair and scalp and leave it in for about 10 minutes. This will help in extracting and dissolving all the dust and colors stuck to your hair and scalp. Rinse out the shampoo and apply a rich conditioner to replenish the oil and moisture that have been stripped away by the chemicals. If your hair is still dry and lifeless, oil it overnight after Holi, as well. Applying hair masks is also a good idea to help your mane regain its former glory.

Hello, you can take homoeopathic medicine berberis aquifolium 30 (4 drops in little water) thrice a day for a week and update. *clean your skin gently with a mild face wash removing all dirt or make-up. Wash many times a day with plain water. *get an adequate amount of sleep. *avoid touching your face with your hands or try to squeeze pimples, it may leave permanent scars and spread the infection. *make a habit of 8-10 glasses of water daily. *avoid fried and spicy food. *include fruits, raw vegetables and fresh vegetable juices in your diet. *avoid stress and anger. *avoid harsh skin products.

Hi Insulin pump would be ideal for brittle diabetes. Those who can't afford, can manage with insulin and proper diet which mostly is small frequent meals with a little knowledge about carbohydrate count which will be of much help in insulin dose adjustment. You need continuous blood glucose monitoring for few days to understand your dips and surges in blood sugar which inturn is very useful in adjusting your insulin dosage. De-stressing also plays an important role. Avoid alcohol, make sure insulin needle is changed after every fourth prick (if it's a flex pen) and is taken properly. Stay fit and strong, as fitness level rises, diabetes risk reduces.

Hi Sajad There is very simple and easy to follow diet plan with which you can lose 2-5kg in just 15days. This plan can be done by you easily. For Breakfast you take 150g curd, 30g Lipolyzer powder, 10g milk cream, 25g roasted flax seed, 100g any fruit, mix them all together in a bowl. Lunch – 2 Chapatti made with Nutroactive Brown Atta, 150g cooked vegetables, 150g green salads like cucumber and tomato. Dinner – 200g any cooked vegetable or vegetable soup only. Follow this diet plan exactly as said; you will surely lose few kilos immediately.

Dear, sir, I am using some antidepressants at night for anxiety problem for 3years continue. Now 40% I suffered. So I have to use. But the problem is now for health. Now my health is not good. It is good that you are taking medication for your depressive symptoms. Along with medication if you incorporate following things that will help you slowly build your relaxation response which will build your resilience. Now it is proven that depression is not purely psychological it has some chemical imbalance in your brain. Trying things mentioned below would help you slowly change your brain chemistry and regain your body's balance and healthy state. To begin with doing guided progressive muscular relaxation before sleeping will help you relax. You good google and download an audio file. I would also suggest you to take a multiple small break to take 3 nice and deep breath while keeping your eyes closed. You could do this while sitting or standing or while even walking or climbing stairs (keep your eyes open in that case). Take lemon and ginger combined juice before starting your meals. Wait for some time then have some light ght bland food. Else u need to take eno twice a day.observe for gas release then have your food at frequent intervals

Dear lybrate-user, I may not think about it if you would be non diabetic person. It may be muscle injury or it may be abscess in your thigh which is not seen in x-ray. Go for usg, and if it is normal then take below medicine. Arnica 6x thrice a day. For 3 days.

Dear lybrate user, * add protein containing items in your foods for healthy hair growth such as take a bowl of cereal daily and a glass of milk or 100 gm cheese or 1-2 eggs. * stress is one of the main cause of hair fall. To reduce hairfall, practice yogasana like shirshasana and sarwangasana only under the guidance of expert. * you can use mahabhringraj tel and apply it 3 times in a week massage your scalp for 10 to 15 minutes daily. It increases blood circulation in your scalp and enhances hair growth. * avoid the excess use of products such as hair colours or shampoo as they cause destruction of hair follicles. *take vitamin-e rich foods like dry fruits (almonds, pista etc) daily. * apply the egg yolk to the scalp atleast once a week. Hair loss and dandruff can be controlled by - 1. Use mild shampoo to wash hair (you can make your own shampoo using reetha and shikakai at home) 2. Stop using conditioners. Use natural conditioners like egg, yougurt and lemon. 3. Massage your scalp with a mix of oils like olive, coconut, sesame, castor oil at night. 4. Apply raw amla juice on hair thrice a week. 5. Rub your scalp with the juice of white onion. 6. Use a paste of bhringraj on hair. 7. You can use some good hair packs like - fenugreek and yogurt, egg and green tea. 8. You can rinse your hair with organic apple cider vinegar after washing your hair to maintain ph balance of your hair. 9. Hair health depends on the amount of protein in your diet. Foods like chicken, eggs, fish, nuts, dry fruits gives you the required nutrients to keep your skin and hair healthy. So consume plenty of them. Eat things rich in vitamin c like amla and oranges. 10. Drink lots of water to flush out toxins from the body.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. It is difficult to identify whether one has T1 or T2 diabetes by only symptoms. Following are the major differences in these two conditions. 1) T1 Diabetes: By and large T1 DM occurs at a much younger age including even in children & infants. In this condition there is no insulin production by the Beta cell of Islets of Langerhans in Pancreas. There are antibodies noticed against those cells. It is considered as an autoimmune diseae. These patients need Insulin for treatment and for survival. In India only 5 to 10% of total diabetic patients are suffering with T1 disease. Earlier it was called as Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus or early onset or Juvenile diabetes. 2) T2 DM: This is the commonest form seen. Over 90 to 95 % of all diabetic patients fall in this category. It occurs because of either deficient insulin production, or resistance to its action or due both. Obesity or over weight and inactivity are two major factors responsible in developing T2 DM. Plus it is a familial disease. If both parents are diabetic then 75% of children tend to get diabetes. Fortunately it is a preventable condition. If person maintains his weight near normal, exercises regularly and takes restricted and balanced diet then it can be postponed or prevented. Most often diabetes hardly produces any symptoms, hence many people fail to notice that they have the disease. Most common symptoms are excess urination, excess hunger and excess thirst, plus unexplained loss of weight and tiredness. There are many other forms of diabetes like gestational diabetes that develops during pregnancy, and others. Thanks.
