Hello Dr. I am a 33 year old female. My T3 is 85, T4 is 7.8 and TSH is 7.81. On the morning of the test I also registered low BP (which could be due to the 10 hours fast I was on for checking fasting blood sugar and was empty stomach for long) I began with a dosage of 75 mcg Thyroxine. First 2 days I experienced dizziness so on day 3 took a break .the dizziness did not come. On day 4 I took the Thyroxine again and felt very dizzy. Overall my health is good except that I feel tired easily and fatigued. I feel weak. My skin has recently began looking sallow. Kindly help with your expert advise if I need to continue with the 75 mcg or shift to a lower dose to begin with. Also, is the dizziness due to Low BP or side effect of Thyroxine 75 mcg? Kindly advise. Warm regards,

Hello, Madam you can start a lower dose like 50 mcg or even if that is not tolerated may start with 25 mcg initially. Then check TSH level after 6 weeks. If the level is lower (target level 3 to 4 mU/L), you may continue the same dose. If not then increase the dose by about 12.5 mcg, then again check TSH after 6 weeks. Thanks.

I am 60 years diabetic man. My sugar levels are 132 fasting. Pp is 180. I am suffering pain at waist since 20 days. Uric acid is 8.3. How to reduce that pain. Please guide me.

General Physician, Alappuzha
For the pain you can take an nsaid dicloran 1-0-1. Will need to reduce urica acid send the reports and ask privately. It is not as easy task to control blood sugar in the desired normal range. Whatever we eat is metabolized to sugar in the body to provide energy for our daily activities. For the absolute control, one has to monitor his / her blood sugar at regular intervals (self-monitoring of blood glucose? smbg). Though difficult, this can be done by a glucometer and keep a record. Get an idea of fasting sugar (fbs) and 2 hours after food (ppbs) and check before dinner and after every major food. The basic idea is to reduce the food intake to 1/3 of what you take now. The dictum of sugar control is diet, exercise, diet + medicine and at later stage medicine+ insulin will be needed. For sugar control there is the need for regular advice and follow up. Just one time consultation or advice is not enough to guide a diabetic in scientifically & medically correct manner. For giving you regular follow up you ask me privately with all details like your daily eating pattern and medicines you take. I assure you a proper guidance. If you keep in touch.

Hello, As thyroid function keeps on fluctuating if you are having hypothyroidism, so you need to control it's function with medication whether allopathic/ ayurvedic or homoeopathic. Along with that recommend you to practice yoga regularly.

May be not. The present levels are because of control that has been achieved because of diet, medications etc. And may not be long lasting. Your second reading suggests you are in impaired glucose tolerance category at least now. I think you should review the status after about 2-4 weeks of diet control and exercise. Then get your 1. Fasting, and 2 hrs after food and before dinner tests done as also hba1c. Then discuss with your consultant. For introducing medications. I don't think stopping all medicines will work and periodic review and diet anti diabetic mangement will have to be continued.

Carrot juice is very effective in reducing fat from your body. •Take one or two fresh carrots and peel off its outer skin. •Now put the carrots in a juice blender and extract its juice. •Drink a glass of carrot juice every day in the morning. •You can also include carrots in your daily salad mixture or eat as raw carrots or can even have it steam cooked with other vegetables every day to see a visible weight loss.

My wife is diagnosed with Vitamin D3 deficiency (8 ng/ml) & High TSH (18.76). Can high thyroid & vit d3 deficiency be interrelated? Is it safe to take Arachitol 6L injection? Someone suggested Lumia 60K cap can also be consumed once a week. I am not sure how long does this therapy take to recover Vitamin D3 in body. Pls suggest what would be best treatment in this case.

Thyroid disirders and Vit D3 deficiency are interrelated. I would recommend a more comprehensive analysis of metabolic, nutrient and hormonal parameters. I suspect your wife has Autoimmune thyroiditis. If so, then this too has to be addressed.
