My mother's age is 52, on lipid profile she has got triglycerides 243, she is a diabetic. How bad it is?
High triglycerides and cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Change life style .do meditation, yoga, Go walk daily, do any one physically activity daily i.e.play any game., Avoid fast foods, oily foods, junk foods, alcohol, smoking, fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress, take plenty of water in day time. And 1 glass of water before bed at night. use flax oil, omega-3 fatty meal or cap., take .green veg., whole grain. Garlic,. Cod liver oil. Take anti cholesterol medicines . Cap. Ecosprin gold-10 at night daily.

As you said you are having severe depression, it takes time for the depression to heal. Medicines are good treatment for depression but they do have side effects depending on various factors. You may be experiencing side effects of medicines for which you should consult your psychiatrist only. Twelve days time is a short period to come to any conclusion that whether treatment is good or not. You have to wait for some more time to see any 'real' effects. Being under depression makes us hopeless and fills us with low confidence. We become pessimistic. I see that this is happening with you regarding your treatment also. You have to keep hopes regarding treatment. Otherwise it will get difficult for you to recover to a normal lifestyle. Stay with the treatment and follow psychiatrist's advice.

Agnesji, I am not aware if hypothyroidism increases blood pressure. Your blood pressure particularly systolic seems to be varying quite a bit, it is not good. Appropriate medication should settle it. Ideally on treatment bp should 130 / 80 mm hg, altering present drugs or adding some new compound should be able to help in reducing the systolic pressure. You also control hypothyroidism effectively (maintaining tsh between 3 to 4 milli units/ml). That will help in over all well being.

Hello lybrate user hdl is protective lipoprotein for cardiovascular diseases. Meaning by which having a good hdl level is protective in itself but the reverse is not true. Many people have this misconception that having a low hdl level will harm them in some way. But having a low hdl level means that you have less protection it doesn't mean that you are at risk. Not having protection versus being at risk are two very opposite things. As you pointed out that your ldl level is 119. The optimum level for anybody is less than 100 and in case of diabetics the level should be less than 70. Having a high ldl level is indeed indicative of risk. Ldl is the bad cholesterol, it needs to be curbed. For this purpose either you can make diet adjustments or you can take medicine.

Headache may be due to hypertension. Try avoiding high salt intake and too much of tea, coffee. Follow good lifestyle in the form of diet and exercise. Check your blood pressure regul; arly. If that doesn't help, then you can start antihypertensive medicine such as beta blockers. It may help. Do not take too much disprin, as it can be dangerous by causing gastric ulcers.

Hi thanks for posting your query. Well the first thing what we need to find is whether your heart condition has deteriorated or it is something else. For that I would recommend you to get a 2d echo scan done and revert back.

Please ask doctor's to change medication. Make changes in your lifestyle to monitor your BP in the most natural way. Remember, increased BP is an un-natural occurrence. Only when our lifestyle is disturbed and we do incorrect things, the BP goes out of control. Medicines keep BP in check, but do not bring it to normal. Ideally, regulate Diet, exercise, mind control, proper hydration, rest and timely sleep and food These will surely help. Have a healthy diwali.

Which diet should a high BP patient follow? Which diet should a BP patient strictly avoid? How to know that person is suffering from high BP or low BP seeing his or her symptoms?

BP diet should be as follows: Reduce white salt, shift to rock salt, that too, in the most minimum dosages. Increase your intake of fresh green leafy vegetables and totally stop consuming anything in packaged foods like chips, lays, biscuits, tinned foods foods in tetra-packs etc. Eat on time, slowly and drink water in proper volume (roughly 2 to 3 liters per day is considered good). Alcohol, tobacco in any form, high stress lack of adequate rest, stress can trigger high BP. The first warning signs of increase in B is head ache feeling depressed, swelling and fatigue. 3 to 5 BP tests will confirm if it is transient high BP or set high BP. Depending on age and other conditions, medication will be recommended.
