Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. What is the current or recent TSH value? Similarly total lipid profile values and BP readings. Usually if hypothyroidism is not well controlled even lipids go hay wire. When on treatment with levothyroxine TSH should be maintained < 3 mU/L to be free from all the symptoms including weight gain. Looking at your weight and height, you are almost grade 1 obese with a BMI of 29.41 kgs/M2. Your ideal body weight should be 65 kgs, which means there is extra 15 kgs weight. Thanks.

Hi, Follow the following medication and guidelines----Start the treatment with single dose of Tuberculinum 1M. THE NEWS:

  4. It is now proved that immunity levels can be improved by several methods, namely Exercise, Right food habits, Scientific Fasting etc.
  5. Among all of them Fasting is definitely the most important and effective tool.
  6. One good occasion for fasting the Navaratry period. Celebrate it as Health Festival. This News letter has suggested the ritual to be followed, every time the Navaratry is around.
  7. The Vasant Navaratry this year is commencing from 28th March 2017.
  8. For the convenience of new members and for those who might have forgotten, the ritual is being again repeated in this News Letter under Health Tips. Follow it and prepare to protect against ailments lurking round the corner to attack, as soon as the Summer and Monsoon seasons arrive.

HEALTH TIPS:

DIET DURING NAVARATRY:

 

Depending upon the personal body constitution the procedure is divided in 4 Sections as follows:

 

A. Obese and Non Diabetic: Just stop all foods and start on plain Water or Lime water or Coconut water. Use a mix of these, for first seven days.  Change to Fresh Fruit Juice or sugarless Juice, for two remaining days. On the tenth day take a light meal and then gradually come back to normal food in 2-3 days time. (Expected Weight Loss, 4-5 Kgs)

 

B. Obese and Diabetic: Stop all food. Start on Fresh or Sugarless Fruit Juice, preferably citrus, for all nine days. Divide the fruit juice in 4-5 equal parts. Take a light meal on tenth day. Come to normal food in 2-3 days time. (Expected Weight Loss, 3-4 kgs)

 

C. Normal constitution: Stop all normal food. For first three days take nothing but water, lemon water or coconut water. From the fourth day onwards start on Fresh or Sugarless Fruit Juice.  Take a light meal on tenth day. Come to normal food in 2-3 days time. (Expected Weight loss, 2-3 Kgs) 

 

D. Under weight and first timers: Stop Normal Food. Start on 4 to 5 Medium Bananas and one liter of pasteurized cow milk. Divide this food in three or four parts. Continue for nine days. Take a light meal on tenth day. Come to normal food in 2-3 days time. (Expected weight Loss, Nil)

 

Other parts of the Therapy, (For all four sections):

 

  1. Take fresh water Enema every day. (Arrangement available at the Charming Yoga Center). Alternatively, buy the kit from the center and take enema at home- Training is provided free. For those who cannot take enema, take a big cup of Spinach soup every day. Though less effective, it is the best alternative.
  2. Under no circumstances, consume any fried food, or spicy food.
  3. Do not eat any so called Phalahri foods prepared from Kattu, Singhara/Rajgira Atta, Saboodana etc. Do not eat sweets made from milk or above mentioned attas.
  4. Drink lots of water. Total fluid intake should be about 3 liters per day.
  5. Do not stop your Normal Exercises or other Physical activities. Those who devote long hours on Pujas etc., and find no time for exercise, should add 40 minutes of walking every day.
  6. Those who chant sacred texts like Chandi Path or Durga Shapt Shati etc., sometimes feel drowsy during the chanting. They may, therefore, do their chanting along with walking. This will help chanting without getting drowsy. As a bonus, they will be bestowed with a healthier body.
  7. Those who cannot follow the whole course may do so for lesser number of days and increase gradually in subsequent Navaratry periods.
  8. The first timers and others should remain in a positive mood.
  9. Keep away from discouraging words and worried long faces.

 

These steps will definitely improve the immunity levels. And better immunity will help everyone remain healthy and active.

CAUTION:

DIET:

  1. Although the peak season of fruits and vegetables is going some summer fruits will replace them soon.
  2. Grapes are already here. Kinnows  and Oranges are in plenty.  The humble Melons and Water Melons are also ready to appear.
  3. Even the Ber is a fruit, full of nutrients. Do not ignore it.

 

 MONTH’S RECEPIE:

  1. Bati is a popular food item in west Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. In eastern India its other version, Litti is equally popular.
  2. In the past bati was baked upon half burnt cow dung cakes.
  3. It was a cumbersome process. Therefore though popular, it was a rarity.
  4. It can now be made in a much easier way.
  5. Prepare hard Dough from whole wheat atta and roll in round balls of the size of big lemons.
  6. Boil them in a pressure cooker for about 10 minutes.
  7. Then grill them in an oven till the colour changes to slight brown. Frequent turning them during baking is very important so that baties are evenly baked all around.
  8. For those who can eat fats may break the bati and sink it in ghee. Others can just roll them in ghee without breaking.
  9. Eat with any dal of choice.
  10. It is also possible to stuff the baties with mashed Potato, or Paneer, or Tofu etc.
  11. Baties can also be finely crushed and mixed with Gur and ghee.
  12. Prepared this way, baties are not only delicious but are also very healthy.
  13. Some people fry the dough balls. This must be avoided because frying destroys all nutritional values of wheat, otherwise available in Baties.

Sleeping Positions - How They Affect Your Health?

The importance of a good night’s sleep is beyond doubt or question. The fact that most people tend to spend over a quarter of their day, lying down, goes some way to demonstrate the point. The English writer, Thomas Dekker once remarked that sleep is the golden chain that ties our health and bodies together. Sleep is essential and it is no surprise that we don’t tend to bother anymore about it, except for lying down and closing our eyes. Every one of us have our own preferred positions which we like to fall asleep in and grovel about, but we never care to concern ourselves beyond it.

Given below are some of the common sleeping postures and their respective pros and cons:

1. Back Sleepers: Some people prefer lying on their backs when they fall asleep. A large number of doctors consider this position to be the most healthy and effective one. This position is understood to be highly beneficial for the spine and the neck as the back stays straight without any compelled contortion. It also aids the mattress in supporting your spine and the frame of your entire body. In addition, the wrinkles on your face, if any, remain free to the open air in contrary to being pressed by your cushion.
Cons: On the other hand, this sleeping position results in an increased likelihood of snoring and at worst, sleep apnea.

2. Side sleepers: Lying on the sides or curling up to the pillows, is a common favorite among a large number of people. Most doctors advise pregnant women to sleep on their sides so as to increase blood circulation, which is highly beneficial to both the mother and the baby.
Cons: On the contrary, the stomach and the lungs are subjected to prolonged pressure if laid for longer episodes of time.

3. Stomach Sleepers: Sleeping on your stomach can be helpful in easing snoring and sleep apnea to a great extent.
Cons: This is usually considered as a detrimental sleeping position as the innate curve of the spine is forced to be flattened resulting in back pain. In addition to such, lying down with your head on one side for a prolonged period of time also leads to a stiffened neck.
In conclusion, no matter what your sleeping position is, it should be restful and effortless.

I am 64 yrs, 5' 5" & 79 kg male. I do at least 4/5 days a week exercise like brisk walk 1 hr or tread mill, cycle,cross trainer & rowing for 10 minutes each or some light wt lifting (max two days /wk). My diet is morning - Two wheat chapati+veg + any one fruit + tea + 1 cup milk/ curd. Lunch -- Two cups of rice + 50 gms fish + 400 gms veg + 25 grms lintel + 1/2 cup curd. Dinner - Two chapati of wheat + veg + 50 gms chik. And more or less 180 ml alcohol. Suggest me if I need to cut down to reduce weight to 72 kg & any other suggestion.

YOUr diet is normal for weight loss. To lose weight, you must burn more calories than you consume a day from your diet, if you burn 3000 calories, you’ll lose a pound a week. People who lose weight slowly, about 1 to 2 pounds per week, are more successful at keeping the weight off. You'll also burn additional calories if you increase your physical activity. You weight-loss plan should do all of the following: •Emphasize fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fat-free or low-fat dairy products. •Include lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, eggs, and nuts. •Contain foods low in saturated fats, avoid trans fats, and limit cholesterol and salt (sodium). •Avoid refined sugars and processed foods. Some tips to help you lose weight: •Keep a food diary. Writing down everything you eat is critical! Noting how you feel when you eat will help you identify emotional triggers that may cause you to overeat. Emotional eaters tend to overeat. •Eat when you're truly hungry rather than when you're tired, anxious or stressed. •Eat slowly. If you eat too fast, you eat more than you need to satisfy your hunger. Your brain needs time to catch up with your stomach. •Plan your meals ahead of time so you make healthy choices. When dining out, check the menu online and decide what you will order before you sit down. Ask for dressings on the side. Opt for foods that are baked, broiled or steamed versus fried or swimming in creamy sauces. Avoid chips and bread baskets—they add unnecessary calories. •Stay hydrated. People often mistake thirst for hunger. You need to have diet plan based on your BMI & activities. Whatever we eat is metabolised by the body for the energy needed to do daily work and the excess is stored as fat. Abdomen is the first place to gain weight and last to disappear. In brief, Weight reduction can be achieved only by reducing the intake of food 1/3 of what you take now. And by appropriate exercise plans for each part like belly, thighs, legs / chest etc. To burn off fat. Some tips 1) Drink three or four cups of water whenever you feel hungry and just before eating food 2) Take boiled or raw vegetable like cucumber, carrot etc. As half of your diet. Then take 1/2 of your total diet as sprouted pulses / proteinaceous food like roti, cooked pulses and remaining with rice or other carbohydrates. Oil or ghee etc. Should be just bare minimum. And do aerobic exercises, running, jogging or at least walking briskly 3-5 KMs and swimming if possible, and in a gym if feasible. The most important is to burn off the energy intake by exercises. There is no short cut or medicines without exercise & dieting to take just as mush food as needed for your activities. The food we eat is utilised for our energy needs and the remaining will be stored as fat which leads to obesity. It is better to do some tests. I swallowing more than normal if feel like something at upper part of throat which force m to swallow and I also feel sometimes like a needle is press in finger where I got scratch from dog. These all thing I feel since 9-10 months. I was taken rabies vaccine from that time I got throat problem. And also vaccine I have taken after 45 day of scratch. Is all these are symptoms of rabies. As accident duration is more than a year. Is any chance of rabies.

It is not due to the rabies and it can not be like that, so forget about this, it seems to be allergic condition or more likely it could be due to hyperacidity and these two need to be differentiated and treated accordingly

Dear lybrate user, one of the major nutritional substance required for human body is carbohydrate. We take carbohydrate in the form of rice, wheat, sugar etc. The complex molecules of carbohydrate are broken down into simple glucose molecules during digestion & released in the blood stream to be absorbed by the muscle cells. Muscle cells utilise the glucose molecules to release energy by breaking down those glucose molecules. Insulin hormone plays a vital role in the absorption of the glucose molecules by the muscle cells. In abnormal conditions, either due to less production of insulin or due to resistance to insulin, the process of absorption of glucose by the muscles comes to a stand still. The glucose molecules remains in the bloodstream which results in the increase in the blood sugar level. The failure of utilisation of the glucose molecules by the muscle cells results in production of less energy than normal condition. This is externally manifested as the fatigue & tiredness of the patient. This excess amount of blood sugar compels the kidney to function more than normal level in order to excrete the blood sugar molecules through urine. As a result the patient suffers from frequent urination. This abnormal condition is clinically known as diabetes mellitus. Once a patient is diagnosed with diabetes he has to take regular medicine to keep his blood sugar level within normal limits. However, the patient does not need to take medicine unless his/her post. Prandial blood sugar level reaches 200. If post. Prandial blood sugar level reaches 200 then patient can take homoeopathic mother tincture gymnema sylvestra q, 30 drops, thrice daily, after meals, in a cup of water. Along with intake of medicines the patient need to walk at least 1 hour daily without any interval. It can b due to gingivitis. Get scalling done by dentist use a mouth wash regularly adopt proper brushing techniques n massage your gums with finger tips after brushing. If there r other causes of your gum bleeding the doc'll let you knw hw to get them treated.

Kindly ensure to use a conditioner every time you shampoo. Avoid too frequent shampooing as it can lead to excessive dryness of hair. Shampoo twice or thrice a week.
