Hi. For avoiding dryness of eyes, avoid excessive use of tablets, laptops, smart phones (while using any of them keep blinking the eyes frequently and take small frequent brakes after every 45min to 1 hr.), keep yourself well hydrated, take more of vitamin A rich food and vegetables like Green leafy vegetables, yellow & orange vegetables, carrots, sweet potatoes, red pepper, whole milk, eggs, liver, fish oils, mangoes, tomato, fruits, some vegetable oils. Medication: Take homoeopathic eye drops - Euphrasia/ twice a day daily.

I met with an accident due to which I had eye surgery (vitrectomy, IOL). Due to this accident I now have low eye pressure (9 mmHg). Is there any way to increase eye pressure naturally or through surgery? Due to this low pressure I have blurred vision.

MBBS, MS - Ophthalmology
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
The low pressure could be due to ciliary shock which should be ruled out on examination before giving any treatment. Kindly visit your ophthalmologist to get it evaluated.

Hello I think you can: a. Use goggles when in sunlight b. Use lubricating eyedrop like flogel if it does not help then consult local ophthalmologist.

Hello Doctor I need to know about the Laser treatment for eyes.I've long site with +4.5 and want to stop the usage of glasses or lens. So I need suggestion regarding the treatment for that. So I've heard that laser treatment is better now a days. So will that be any useful or any side effects also possible. Also how much this costs around for treatment.

Lasik surgery is good option for those who do not want glass/Cl for there refractive errors. But few specialized test needs to be done to find whether you are suitable candidate for surgery .

How to take care of eyes? Actually my eye glass power is -3.5. My age is 32. It is better to wear glass or lens?

How to take care of eyes? Actually my eye glass power is -3.5. My age is 32. It is better to wear glass or lens?
These preventive habits protect eyes • Go for regular eye exams including complete dilated eye test to detect early-stage diabetic eye disorder and macular degeneration. • Be aware of eye health disorders within the family to proactively protect againsthereditary eye conditions. • Maintain healthy body weight to reduce the probability of developingdiabetic eye or glaucoma. • Protect your eyes in hazardous environments (under extreme sunlight, sports, etc.) by using sunglasses and safety gear such as shields and eye guards. • Stop smoking since itincreases the possibility of eye-damage including blindness. • Reduce eye-strain by frequently resting your eyes using the20-20-20 rule. Every 20 minutes, for 20 seconds, look at a 20 feet distance away from you. • • Avoid eye-infections by always washing your hands before touching your eyes or contact lenses. It is always better to wear glass if you are comfortable with it as Lens demands a lot of care and expenses for maintanence.

Hello our eye has some pressure. It can be best measured with goldman applanation tonometer. Normal pressure is 10-21 mmhg. It can damage optic nerve causing glaucoma. It is treatable with medicines. Surgery may be required in advanced stages.

allergy can be controlled easily using eye drops. But there are many eye drops and specific eye drops can only be prescribed after seeing the eye clinically as treatment depends on severity. also dip a handkerchief in little cold water and keep over closed eyes.. you will feel better

Hello. I have few suggestions for you. It would be a better idea to use a cold (clean) towel. It would help to cause constriction of the vasculature and reduce the swelling around the eyes. Alternatively, you could use a lubricant eye drop (5 to 6 times in a day) this would again keep the eyes moist and help in reducing the redness. In case there is persistent redness along with discharge, it would be a better idea to get an eyecheckup done in person. Redness of the eyes has multiple causes associated with it. To enumerate a few common causes: (1) allergy of the eye. It is usually caused by improper eye hygiene. There is a tendency to rub the eyes with fingers, handkerchief, cloth, etc. This is not a good habit because it tends to transmit lots of virus, bacteria and dust into the eye. Allergy usually presents with symptoms of watering (clear water), redness and itching of the eye. (2) infectious conjunctivitis: this is usually associated with white-yellowish discharge. If so, it would be a good idea to go and show to an eye specialist in person. (3) foreign body lodged in the eye. This is more commonly associated with people who drive 2 wheeler vehicles without protection. It occurs more commonly in one eye. Foreign bodies that commonly get lodged are eyelashes, insect wings, small insects, dust particles, iron particles (more common with people working in the iron industry) the solution for a foreign body lodged in the eye would be better provided by an eye specialist at the clinic. (4) raised intraocular pressure: this is a condition known as glaucoma. It is not so common as the previous mentioned conditions. There is usually associated pain in the eyes. It is commonly bilateral (occurs in both eyes). There is usually a positive family history of glaucoma associated in a majority of the cases. (5) inflammation of the coats of the eyeball. This is known as" uveitis" it is also a relatively less common condition. There is associated pain. It would require a thorough eye checkup including the retina-thus a good idea would be to visit the eye specialist in person. (6) increased blood pressure. This has known to cause redness which is also known as sub-conjunctival hemorrhage. In this regard, a complete ophthalmic evaluation and a systemic evaluation is warranted. From the symptoms described by you, it seems more likely to be a case of allergy. Maintaining the precautions and hygiene that I mentioned should probably work well for you. You could also use a lubricant eye drop along with an anti-histamine eye drop. (3-4 times daily) hope my suggestions helped you.

You have something called as computer vision syndrome. So take frequent breaks while you are working every 20-25 mins take break to look away from screen blink more frequently' level of screen should be below the level of eyes ac should not blow directly on your face. Also get your eyes checked for any spectacle power.

Looks like you are experiencing a normal entoptic phenomenon. For safety sake get your retina evaluated. If that is fine then you dont have to worry.

Eyes water because , while driving the rate at which the eye dries up increases , hence of rate of secretion of tears also goes up. since we are not driving at a constant speed there is a mismatch between the tear secretion and eyes drying up . our body always tries to over perform. this over secreted tears is too much to handle by the normal tear route from the eyes to the nose. hence the excess tears overflow leading to watering. So it is a normal process.Dont worry about this.Your eyes are normal.

Hello lybrate-user. You could use a lubricant eye drop (5 to 6 times in a day). Use it for a month. Regarding the black eyes, there are multiple causes associated with it. Ranging from inadequate sleep to genetic reasons and systemic disorders, it would be a better detected if your eyes are examined properly at a clinic. Try the lubricant therapy, take adequate rest and avoid any form of addiction to tobacco, alcohol, etc. This should probably work for you. Hope my suggestions helped you. Take care-regards.

Just wear your glasses and get annual eye checkup. Your number should stabilise on its own. Once stabilised you can plan for refractive surgery.
