Health Query
If you have small finger joints pain/difficulty getting up from bed and early morning stiffness of joints which relieves on working during the day then only you should get your RA factor/anti ccp levels done. These tests could be negative also. Osteoarthritis usually does not affect young age group. Also the kind of pain you are telling was associated during pregnancy and is continued later till 4 years can be associated with some clots in your blood stream. That needs to be evaluated properly with detailed history and examination.

Cough could be due to several reasons. A patient requires different kind of medicines for different cause of cough. At times cough could be due to environmental pollution and while at times history of allergy/smoking are causes of cough. Kindly consult your doctor for the same. Also you said he is taking medications. So if he is on inhalers then inhalers dose and technique should be adquate and correct. If he is having high bp then at times medicines for high bp can cause cough. Running nose can cause persistent cough. And other common cause is gastritis causing cough. So give him curd/avoid tea/avoid spicy food/avoid immediately lying on bed after meals and walk for around 15 mins after food.

No. It is not because of your aerocort inhaler. Infact many a times thyroid is the cause for asthma. And in patients who have low thyroid (TSH levels) many times thyroid medications results in relief of asthma symptoms. At times asthma symptoms are not controlled till you start managing thyroid also.

Kindly note if your patient is having cough for more than 3 weeks duration than it is advisable to do a Chest xray. Wether allergic or not can be discussed with other questions but you must do a chest xray especially if cough more than 3 weeks/fever/weight loss is present.

Hi. Thanks for the detailed history. First of all relax and calm down. You must understand that asthma is a condition which is easiest in respiratory diseases to be treated. Look formonide contains both medicines which are required for long term symptoms and also for treating sudden increase in cough. Additional doses of levolin (asthalin) is not required. Your doctor must have added levolin only for emergencies. Levolin should not be used for continous use. You should now stop giving levolin and use only formonide 100 2 puff in morning and 2 in night. Gradually doses of formonide can be reduced further too.

No need to worry. Any kind of infection in our body causes the leukocytes count to increase and that too neutrophils increase. Usually such increasd leukocytes are associated with fever episodes. Do not worry he will settle. Also to check is whether for any kind of infection he was given any steroids tablets. At times steroid tablets are cause for increasd TLC. This will settle in a few days.

If your doctor has given you inhalers and still you are not relieved then following things need to be checked
1. Your technique of inhalation should be correct
2. You should be recieving adequate doses of inhalers
3. Give your inhalers some time to relief. They will not work like magic. But yes after a week or so your symptoms will start reducing.
4.Avoid pollution.

Soventus or any kind of cough syrups should not be used for duration more than 7-10 days without medical consultation.

Kindly note winter increase in cough is the pointer towards cold induced airway spasm. Though you can use home remidies like steam inhalation/or hot water for drinking/honey for eating but she requires evaluation and treatment for her symptoms. Mostly such patients are managed well with inhalers for a short duration.
