My uncle is alcoholic, he want to leave that, he is trying since from many days but he couldn't left. What he should do?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Your uncle has a good situation that he needs help and he also wants help. This is the best situation to give it up. Now it is difficult to do because he has become addicted to alcohol and has a lot to do. Under such circumstances it is best that you admit him into a de-addiction center and let him stay there for at least 6 months and after that attend counseling with a professional. There are medicines that help with the drinking just to ease the initial craving and to act as an antabuse i.e. he will have a serious reaction, if he consumes even a small quantity of alcohol or alcohol based substances. It has to be carefully monitored to see that he not only consumes the medication but is also avoiding alcohol. Ultimately, it is his will power and the support that he receives from the medical fraternity and his close and dear ones. He must also learn to substitute and deal with the oral need, a rigid value system, the script issue, and of course take a look at all the genetic factors to plan a strategy not to get into what is called ‘cross addictions’ i.e. another form of addiction that may appear alright but is in fact as bad as the primary addiction. The center or hospital and the counselor will advise and guide him on several measures and precautions he will need to take to stay with his resolve. Even after the rehabilitation he must attend AA meetings and continue this support for a long time. The family will also need to attend some sessions and go for Al-anon meetings for their co-dependency issues. He cannot be treated in isolation because the family has gotten used to his drinking and have made some unhealthy adaptations to somehow cope. The children will also have to attend meetings to work out their issues because of the father’s habit. In fact, they are all suffering from the Adult Children Of Alcoholics Syndrome (ACOAs), which in effect means that they are genetically predisposed to alcoholism or can have cross addiction problems and that they will have similar traits of the abusing alcoholic but in a milder form. There are special support groups for them all over the world. Should they touch or indulge in alcohol or any addictive substances or behaviors, they could also become full-fledged addicts themselves. He needs to make a serious plan with his wife and the children and whoever else’s support he can get and act on it fast.

Manage Acne & Pimples With Homeopathy

Acne, better known as pimples, is a common skin condition deeply affecting the teens. Its emotional impact is severe, ranging from distress to poor self-image and self-esteem.

The cause of acne: Clogging of pores with dead skin cells and oil (sebum). Acne may be mild to severe in nature. Severe acne often leads to formation of scars.

Why do we get acne at all?
The primary cause of acne is the rise in level of hormone androgen in the body. Androgen levels rise around the age of adolescence. Androgen activates the sebaceous (oil) glands under the skin and makes them grow bigger and produce excess oil. The hair follicles get plugged with this oil and dead skin cells, giving the bacteria a chance to thrive and cause acne. The medical term for acne is acne vulgaris.

Many factors can trigger acne. Stress, dietary factors such as dairy and chocolates, oil-based skin cosmetics, loss of sleep, hormonal changes, irregular menstrual cycles, drugs like cortisone and hormone replacement pills are a few.

When to seek medical advice?
Acne or pimples are normal among teens and do not need medical attention as long as they are small and do not have attending symptoms. These usually clear off on their own. However, if the acne are large, severe, pustular, itchy, very painful and are leaving scars, it’s time to consult a specialized homeopath.

Acne - Homeopathic Treatment

Homeopathic treatment has very encouraging results in acne and pimples and gives relief in long term. Moreover all medications are natural, safe, gentle, effective, easy to administer and without any adverse effects. Homeopathic treatment is strongly recommended for patients who are desperately looking for an effective remedy.

Homeopathic medicines for acne work internally, in a very gentle and effective way, without any harsh external applications. Rather than suppress acne, Homeopathic medicines treat the condition at the root. These medicines, which are safe from any adverse side effects, are prescribed after a thorough in-depth analysis of symptoms.

Top Homeopathic medicines for acne are

  1. Hepar Sulph
  2. Psorinum Sulphur
  3. Berberis Aquifolium
  4. Kali Bromatum

If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a homeopath.

Loss of sexual desire, known in medical terms as hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD), is the most common form of sexual dysfunction among women of all ages. Common causes for a loss of sexual desire and drive in women include: Interpersonal relationship issues. Partner performance problems, lack of emotional satisfaction with the relationship, the birth of a child, and becoming a caregiver for a loved one can decrease sexual desire. Sociocultural influences. Job stress, peer pressure, and media images of sexuality can negatively influence sexual desire. Low testosterone . Testosterone affects sexual drive in both men and women. Testosterone levels peak in women's mid-20s and then steadily decline until menopause, when they drop dramatically. Medical problems: Mental illnesses such as depression, or medical conditions, such as endometriosis, fibroids, and thyroid disorders, impact a woman's sexual drive both mentally and physically. Medications : Certain antidepressants (including the new generation of SSRIs), blood pressure lowering drugs, and oral contraceptives can lower sexual drive in many ways, such as decreasing available testosterone levels or affecting blood flow. Age. Blood levels of androgens fall continuously in women as they age. You can get back with more details and consult privately so that appropriate medicine can be suggested for you

Keep hair clean. Make sure that your scalp and hair are always clean. It will help your hair grow faster. Dirt clogs the hair follicles, which makes it more difficult for hair to grow. However, do not shampoo every day, as men’s hair get easily damaged, and excessive shampooing can dehydrate hair and cause breakage. Shampoo twice a week while cleanse hair with conditioner daily.

I can understand your concern for the dry skin over your face. After analyzing your query with best diligence I can get that you might have rosacea or sun damage over the skin of the face. As you have given a history of little pimples as well dry flakes so all these points need to be evaluated. In your kind of cases I suggest to use a gel based sunscreen over the entire face for 3-4 times. It is quite important to do sun protection with best measures. If at all the eruptions are not reducing then you might require a proper dermatological consultation. DO not try to rub the area with cloth as it cause irritation and then pigmentation. All the best.

I am 34 years old and diabetic from last one and half year feeling weakness some times.
Hello , hope you are doing good. Please follow the doctor prescribed medicine. Which controls the diabetics and will not allow you increase. But along with medication, you need to concentrate on food also. Make sure you food must have high protein, fiber and omega-3 nutrition. For a diabetics, its good to have more protein rather than carbohydrates, which converts into glucose and may have a chance to increase the diabetes. What we suggest is the nutrigemoic protein, who certified, with 9 essential amino acids. This will help you cure your diabetics. But you will definitely have a result, if you can use protein with vitamins and minerals, fiber and omega-3 supplement .

Hi lybrate-user, My understanding from what you wrote is, you have pimples and the pimples are leaving marks that's called PIH or post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Acne is a medical condition caused by bacteria P acnes. Prompt treatment is required to avoid scarring. Treatment requires a proper evaluation of your skin and you need to take medicines (antibiotics) and apply creams on the pimples depending upon the grade of acne. Just using a salicylic face wash won't help the condition. You need proper treatment by a qualified dermatologist. please don't pop the pimples as it would lead to more scarring which is more difficult to treat.
