Dear Dr. I have continuous snoring and insomnia during my sleep and I feel more sedative when I wake up in the morning. Can you please guide me how to recover from this.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Clear nasal passages. If you have a stuffy nose, rinse sinuses with saline before bed. Using a Neti pot, nasal decongestant, or nasal strips can also help you breathe more easily while sleeping. If you have allergies, reduce dust mites and pet dander in your bedroom or use an allergy medication. Keep bedroom air moist. Dry air can irritate membranes in the nose and throat, so if swollen nasal tissues are the problem, a humidifier may help. Change your sleeping position. Elevating your head four inches may ease breathing and encourage your tongue and jaw to move forward. There are specially designed pillows available to help prevent snoring by making sure your neck muscles are not crimped. Sleep on your side instead of your back.

MBBS, MD Psychiatry, DNB Psychiatry

Migraine is a relapsing headache disorder. It causes episodic one sided headache associated with nausea and/ vomiting, relieved by medicines and rest and aggravated by factors like impaired sleep, stress, allergies, loud noise, sun exposure etc. In addition to taking medicines for acute headache attacks you also have to take treatment foe prevention of further episodes. This can be decided according to the type, duration, severity of headaches, medicines taken so far and associated symptoms like stress, anxiety, depression, sleep problems etc.

I am suffering from migraine problem. I am having headache. Can you help with that?
Dear Lybrate User, *Avoid hot, spicy foods, fermented foods, white sugar, white flour products, and sour or citrus fruits, because they aggravate the Pitta in your body. *Drink more water and eat more fiber, fruits and vegetables, and whole grains. *Avoid excessive sugar or salt, refined foods, animal products (meats and dairy), caffeine, tea, and alcohol, as these items will further lead to aggravation of Pitta. *Avoid direct exposure to the sun, as migraine headaches are predominantly a Pitta disorder and can be triggered by the hot sun. *Head massage with Bhringraj Oil is also beneficial. This massage gives a calming effect to your nervous system. *Headaches caused due to tension and worry can be alleviated through deep breathing and relaxation, especially in a lying down position in a quiet place. Inverted postures, or those where the head is lowered briefly, increase oxygen to the brain and can reduce headache-causing strain.

Dear Lybrate User, *The ayurvedic herbs ashwagandha and brahmi have traditionally been used to balance the nervous system. They have been shown to reduce reactivity to stressful events and may raise the threshold at which the headaches you experience are triggered *Following a Pitta-pacifying diet and lifestyle may help you reduce the frequency and intensity of migraines.

I am giving some health tips for Migraine headache •1.You can turn off light for some time •2.Apply hot or cold compresses to your head or neck. •Ice packs have a numbing effect, which may dull the sensation of pain. •Hot packs and heating pads can relax tense muscles. •3.Warm showers or baths may have a similar effect. •4.You can take Tea or coffee( but not excess) 5.Sleep well Here are some tips to encourage sound sleep. Establish regular sleep hours. •Minimize distractions. •Your eating habits can influence your migraines. •Be consistent. Eat at about the same time every day. Don't skip meals. No. Paralysis is permanent damage. Whatever recovery he could have made, he would have already made it within the first few months itself. Take precautions so that it does not recur again.
