I am 50 years age andam having sensitivity in my left side upper part teeth I am using thermoseal tooth paste from last 6 months but not working what shall I do.

Ask Free Question
Dear, if u are using thermoseal since 6 months and it is not giving you any relief then there are little chances of root exposure due to gum disease but other problems like caries or attrition wasting of tooth can be possibilities. U should now get a professional examination done by a dentist for the management of your problem. Thanks n healing regards.

What is the tooth decay?

What is the tooth decay?
Tooth decay happens when acids wear away the tooth?s hard surface layer, called enamel. These acids are made by a sticky film called plaque. Plaque has germs that feed on sugary foods. The process of digesting these sugars makes acids that attack tooth surfaces. Over time, tooth decay can cause holes in the tooth surface. These are called cavities. If left untreated, cavities can get bigger. They can even destroy the tooth. If you think you have a cavity, see your dental team. Your dentist is likely to put in a filling. Fillings may stop the cavity from getting bigger. DENTAL TIPS: - Visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

If you have diabetes, make sure you take care of your mouth. People with diabetes are at risk for mouth infections, especially periodontal (gum) disease. Periodontal disease can damage the gum and bone that hold your teeth in place and may lead to painful chewing problems.

The good news is you can keep your teeth and gums healthy. By controlling your blood glucose, brushing and flossing every day, and visiting a dentist regularly, you can help prevent serious problems in your mouth

From your query it seems that you have carious teeth or non carious lesions(causes due to abnormal wear of enamel or dentine, inappropriate brushing habits, acidic food etc.)When you first wake up in the morning there is lot of germ build up inside the mouth which causes the pain.I'll suggest you to brush your teeth before going to bed and use a non alcoholic mouthwash like chlorhexidine. Also, I suggest you to visit a dentist soon.

Want to know the cost of root canaling and crown treatment per teeth and times it takes to complete the process.
Hii the total cost of root canal along with crown goes from anywhere between 6500-7500. It generally requires four visits to a dentist to complete the entire procedure. Thank you.

I went to a dentist for a toothache problem. I was told that there was a hole which was through the side of the tooth and by doing root canal treatment, the pain would go. I got the root canal treatment done and a cap also fixed on the tooth, but to my dismay the pain in that tooth still remains. Again Xray was conducted and I was given to understand that the tooth had no problem and the root canal was success. Still they could not identify the problem. What is the solution now?

7 Benefits of Chewing Sugar-Free Gum

Chewing gum may be made popular as a style statement in the recent past, but in reality, it is as ancient as the aztecs and the mayans, who had the habit of chewing gum or bark. Over the years, numerous studies have been conducted to deep-dive into its benefits, and it has been found to be very beneficial.
With the recent fad of foods going sugar-free, chewing gums also left the sugar in them out.

For routine regular oral care, it is advisable to brush and rinse after each meal. However, in cases when one is not at home, this becomes a practical challenge. A good option is to chew a sugar-free gum after each meal, so that decay and gum disease are reduced to a large extent. This can be supplemented with a brushing or flossing as soon as it becomes available.

In addition to avoiding sugar load, there are other benefits of chewing sugar-free gum as listed below:

Kills microorganisms: it is believed that chewing sugar-free gum for about 10 minutes can kill up to 100 million bacteria in the mouth.

Stimulates production of saliva: the jaw movement that happens with chewing gum increases saliva production and flow. This helps in diluting the acids in the mouth, flushing out plaque, and removing food particles that are lodged in various areas.

Prevents decay: with improved salivary flow, the chances of dental decay are delayed. Studies comparing ph of the mouth before and after chewing gum have confirmed that sugar-free gums reduce the acidic level of the mouth, which is conducive for tooth decay. There is no actual sugar in the gum, thereby one of the factors required for decay is eliminated.

Xylitol: one of the main ingredients in sugar-free gums, it is shown to reduce the amount of bacteria that lead to decay in the mouth. This is an ingredient from fruits and vegetables and so good for the overall health.

Improves digestion: as is well known, the first step of digestion begins in the mouth. With improved salivary flow and increased chewing, food is digested to a greater extent leading to reduced incidence of acid reflux.

Boosts logic and memory: chewing gum stimulates blood flow to the brain and stimulates the neural pathway. This has multiple benefits including improved memory, improved alertness and logical skills, reduced anxiety, and improved learning and memory.

Saves money: with all these benefits, especially reduced incidence of gum disease and tooth decay, it is estimated that a lot of money spent on dental treatments is saved.

So, the next time you see the sugar-free gum at the billing counter, there is no need to think too much about it, go for it!

Bleeding during brushing is the sign of gingivitis and plaque deposition on the tooth surface. You can get relief by scaling. Also rinse your mouth with chlorhexidine mouthwash three times a day after each meal. Brush gently.

Kindly get scaling done and use mouth wash twice daily for 15 days. Brush your teeth twice daily using correct brushing technique to maintain your oral hygiene. Also notice that you are not constipated most of the times as this is also one of the reasons for bad breath.

Xylometazoline acts on adrenergic receptors of nasal mucosa to relieve the congestion by constricting the inflamed or swollen nasal blood vessels. If you are a patient of high blood pressure or suffering from any cardiac ailment please avoid the drug. Otherwise you may feel free to use it. Better not take overdose.
