If your father is nearly 7 feet as mentioned above, I will not recommend weight reduction except reduction in salt and sugar which he must have been advised after angioplasty & being diabetic on no sugar. his bp is low. give him more fluids and get checked again. if it is one time reading , do not worry and keep him hydrated by insisting on drinking more water. if bp is constantly lower than 100 , which is highly unlikely but do get checked by your doctor to know the reasons of low bp like low thyroid,anemia.. regarding recent heart attack , do write back about investigations done and numbers of blocks. angioplasty has been done for 1 or more blocks ? aftercare for angioplasty is routine prevention of a heart attack like eating right, moderate exercise,no smoking and no negative stress.

Hi My pp reading is normally around 200 though fasting reading is 120. I take insulin lanctus 14 units. Other oral medicines are also there. Should my insulin fose be increased?

Fellowship in Diabetes Management, MBBS
General Physician,
Fasting readings are fine, should be around 100-110, what other oral meds are there, and since how many yrs are you diabetic. Do your hba1c. Hba1c will show you exact diabetes control. Fasting and post meals sugar will show particular day glucose reading. Fbs and ppbs is trailer of diabetes, hba1c is entire movie. Do your hba1c from srl or metropolis.

Normal values for FBS=70 to 100, and PPBS=100 to 140 Pre diabetic symptoms may or may not be there. Post lunch value 225 indicates, that you have to reduce quantity of carbohydrates in the lunch.Dinner is ok as the FBS is with in normal limits In addition to drugs diabetics have to follow brisk morning walk for 45mts 6days a week+ maintaining constant weight etc

Mr. Lybrate-user, there are many reasons for early hair fall. But if you have hypothyroidism then that can be one of the main causes for hair fall. Since you are on treatment for hypothyroidism, so please see that a good control is achieved with tsh levels down to 3 - 4 milli units/l. If that is not achieved, then symptoms of hypothyroidism including hair fall will not go away. In fact hair fall is the last thing to get corrected. Plus you are also over weight with a bmi of 26.98 kgs/m2. Even efforts to reduce weight also are not successful when tsh levels are high. So please take care. Thanks for the question.

My friend. Each of these levels in blood has immense long term impact on your system. And if the blood reports are correct, then you definitely need medications. If you can not control the level of these components in your blood but you are gonna have serious complications in later life. My general advice would be, firstly stop smoking and drinking immediately if you have any of these addictions. Reduce junk food and fatty food to a minimum. Avoid meat, especially mutton. Along with these you also need quite a few medications. Consult with your doctor or feel free to consult me privately via lybrate so that I i can prescribe you the medications after thorough assessment of your condition. Will be happy to help.

Dear lybrate-user, since diabetes is a life long illness, the treatment also has to be lifelong. Allopathy has proved to be very effective for controlling diabetes. I am not sure about homoeopathy and it also depends greatly on the treating doctor. Any ways, it will have to be taken lifelong. Please understand that in homoeopathy if given wrong medicine can cause a permanent side effect which might be impossible to rectify. In allopathy, atleast a lot of research evidence is available for all the existing medications. & the effects & side effects are all documented.
