What should be eaten in thyroid. And how to loose weight? How to low the uric acid?

What should be eaten in thyroid. And how to loose weight?
How to low the uric acid?
Kusumji, By thyroid you are referring to hypothyroidism is it not? Because thyroid is the normal gland present in all of us, producing important hormone thyroxine. Deficiency of thyroxine causes hypothyroidism. Apart from taking thyroxine tablets in adequate dose, you have to do a periodic check up of TSH levels to see if the dose taken is adequate or needs increase. You should avoid soy beans, soy containing food, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, radish, mustard, peanuts and coffee. Consume more of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits. Use whole grain flour for making chapati and roti. Plus regular exercise for more than 1 hour a day is must, to reduce weight. Diet also should give exact calories based on ideal body weight and level of physical activity. As regards uric acid reduction, you should avoid organ meat, sweetened aerated drinks, high fat foods, sweet breads, fructose corn syrup, certain fishes like herring, scallops, sardines, salmon, trout, mussels and mushrooms. Foods which can be consumed include low fat diary products, food made out of whole grain flour, brown rice, oats and coffee. Fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts are good.

Diabetes - Know Its Ayurvedic Remedies!

Diabetes - Know Its Ayurvedic Remedies!

When the sugar concentration in the blood increases suddenly and unreasonably, the resulting condition is known as diabetes. Sugar or glucose is generally used in order to provide much needed energy to our bodies. But when the pancreas dysfunctions, it leads to a problem in the insulin production. As a result, glucose or sugar gets directly absorbed into the blood, instead of getting absorbed by insulin. And this leads to the condition of diabetes.

Diabetes Treatment in Ayurveda
For Ayurvedic treatment of diabetes, the first step is usually dietary planning and lifestyle change. Adopting a more active lifestyle, and a healthy, balanced diet low on sugars and starches, is a must. You must begin by avoiding sugars in all forms. This means you will have to get rid of rice, potatoes, white bread, sugar coated cereals, bananas, colocasia and much more. Add a lot of green leafy vegetables to your diet to improve your nutritional status and metabolism. In addition to these, also add some herbs to your diet. Ayurvedic herbs that act as natural medicine for diabetes include turmeric, bitter gourd, gurmar leaves, bael, fenugreek and many more.

Apart from diabetes Ayurvedic treatment, you could also practice yoga, which can help you improve your health. Several yogic asanas help massage your internal organs so that they are healthier and can function much better. Some of the asanas are especially beneficial for the pancreas, which produces insulin. You may have to make some changes to your lifestyle as well. For starters, you will have to maintain a more active lifestyle. You will also have to avoid sleeping in the daytime. Avoid smoking and consuming alcohol and take extra care of your feet.

As an ancient science based on lifestyle related treatment methods that include herbs, massages and life changing tweaks, Ayurveda also provides various methods of managing this ailment. Here's how!

  1. Bitter Gourd: Known as an ingredient that is rich in antioxidants, this can be consumed to take care of diabetes. You will need to first remove the peel of at least four to five bitter gourds before crushing them to create a paste. This paste has to be put through a sieve so that the juice of the gourds can be extracted. You will then have to drink this juice every morning, on an empty stomach.
  2. Cinnamon: From treating coughs and colds to diabetes and other serious ailments, this is a wonder spice that can be found in most Indian kitchens. You can start by boiling a litre of water and letting it simmer on the gas for about twenty minutes. Thereafter, you can add three teaspoons of cinnamon powder to this simmering water. Strain this mixture and drink the entire batch every day to clear out the toxins.
  3. Fenugreek Seeds: For this, you will need to take about four to five tablespoons of fenugreek seeds. These will have to be soaked in a glass of water or about 250ml of water, overnight. In the morning, the softened seeds will need to be crushed before the mixture is strained. The water that escapes should be collected and ingested every day for a period of two months.
  4. Turmeric: Turmeric is a powerful and well-known ingredient that is used for curing and managing many ailments. You will need to mix about half a teaspoon of turmeric powder with one teaspoon of amla powder as well as half a tablespoon of methi seeds or fenugreek seeds powder. This concoction will have to mixed in half a glass of water and taken daily on an empty stomach. This can be used by patients suffering from heart ailments as well.
  5. Diet: Cereals like ragi, corn, kulit, green millet, and barley are known to beneficial for patients suffering from diabetes. Leafy greens are also a must for such patients along with protein-rich foods like soya beans. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Ayurveda.

I am a diabetic for 10 years. I am under glycomet gp3 850 (morning before bf), glucobay 25mg (during bf & lunch) & istavel 50mg (after bf). Since jan t his year I am having a discomfort in my right arm (some times mild pain but mainly a discomfort) especially while sleeping or lying down. Similarly a pain on my left index finger for the last 3, 4 months. Mild numbness in both hands as well. Dr. Says it is due to diabetics and no medicine will work. The hba1c last month was 6.9. Do I have to live with this for rest of my life?

While diabetic neuropathy cannot be cured, there are treatments available to help manage some of the symptoms. Another treatment goal is keeping blood glucose levels under good control through a combination of diet and medication so that the neuropathy does not worsen. Keeping blood glucose levels under control has been shown to improve symptoms and prevent worsening of the pain. The pain of diabetic neuropathy can sometimes be managed with certain medications. Certain prescription antidepressants and antiseizure medications have been shown to be effective in relieving pain that originates in the nerves. Ask me privately.

I am a hypothyroid person. Please suggest me some exercises and how to meditate? As I have never done these before.
Lybrate-user, meditation and exercise both are really good to maintain a good health. But it is equally important to control hypothyroidism effectively. For that you should maintain tsh levels between 3 to 4 mili units/l. Otherwise all the symptoms will not be in check. Exercising for 1 hour every day will help in maintaining a near normal weight, otherwise hypothyroidism will lead to increased weight. The best exercise to begin is brisk walking for 1 hour or more every day. A very simple and easy to do. Otherwise, if you are willing to do a bit more then better to join a gym and do various aerobic activities and strength building exercises under the guidance of a qualified professional instructor. This will help you get a real hang exercise and you will enjoy. As regards meditation, there are many methods which are advocated. One way is to sit in a comfortable chair taking full support to your thighs, using the full width and depth of the chair, then concentrating your gaze on an object at 45 degrees in front of you, taking 6 deep breaths and then closing your eyes. Then instructing your self that your whole body beginning with scalp is relaxing completely, reaching slowly down to the toes. Once you do this say to your self that" I have relaxed completely, every single cell, every muscle, bone and joint everything has relaxed. I am feeling wonderful. I am enjoying this lovely feeling of relaxation. You may imagine or visualise about a beautiful place that you have visited, bring it right in front of your eyes, feel you are there. Stay in that mood for over 10 to 15 minutes or longer. While being in this situation give some positive instructions/ suggestions to yourself about what you want to do, or objectives, goal, immediate and future ones. Say to your self, that your going to succeed. Just enjoy that lovely feeling of relaxation. Say you are healthy, you will over come the problems that you face including hypothyroidism. Will have great success in life. Then after a stipulated time count 1 to 6 and open your eyes. This is one way of relaxing or meditating. There other ways like spiritual meditation. Try any thing that suits you. All the best. Thanks.

Dear All, My wife age is 22 years recently her check was done and her thyroid level is TSH 10.4. We have started immediately treatment and also delayed our pregnancy plan till TSH level comes to normal level. She is very stress because of these results as she wish to get a baby asap. Kindly suggest how much time it will take to cover or improve her thyroid level to normal level?

Within two to three months it will come normal. Get tsh done every three weeks. Increase or decrease the levothyroxine dose accordingly. But be careful in increasing dose, small increments of 12.5 or 25 must be done.

Dear Lybrate User, One of the major nutritional substance required for human body is carbohydrate. We take carbohydrate in the form of rice, wheat, sugar etc. The complex molecules of carbohydrate are broken down into simple glucose molecules during digestion & released in the blood stream to be absorbed by the muscle cells. Muscle cells utilise the glucose molecules to release energy by breaking down those glucose molecules. Insulin hormone plays a vital role in the absorption of the glucose molecules by the muscle cells. In abnormal conditions, either due to less production of insulin or due to resistance to insulin, the process of absorption of glucose by the muscles comes to a stand still. The glucose molecules remains in the bloodstream which results in the increase in the blood sugar level. The failure of utilisation of the glucose molecules by the muscle cells results in production of less energy than normal condition. This is externally manifested as the fatigue & tiredness of the patient. This excess amount of blood sugar compels the kidney to function more than normal level in order to excrete the blood sugar molecules through urine. As a result the patient suffers from frequent urination. This abnormal condition is clinically known as DIABETES MELLITUS. Once a patient is diagnosed with Diabetes he has to take regular medicine to keep his blood sugar level within normal limits. However, the patient does not need to take medicine unless his/her Post. Prandial Blood Sugar level reaches 200. If Post. Prandial Blood Sugar level reaches 200 then patient can take Homoeopathic Mother Tincture GYMNEMA SYLVESTRA Q, 30 drops, thrice daily, after meals, in a cup of water. Along with intake of medicines the patient need to walk at least 1 hour daily without any interval. In order to decrease the intake of carbohydrate in diet the patient should avoid rice, sweet dishes, fruits, cold drinks, fast foods, alcoholic beverages, potato etc
