HIV - Know Its Impact On Body

HIV, which is short for Human Immunodeficiency Virus, penetrates your body and directly attacks your immune system. In this process, the virus weakens your body's natural defense mechanism against diseases and infections. A compromised immune system makes the body prone to minor infections, which healthy people would generally overcome. The virus itself doesn't cause any physical symptoms. It only serves to ease the entry of other bacteria and viruses into the body.

The following are some of the ways HIV affects your body:
1. Immune system - The human immunodeficiency virus destroys CD4 cells, the white blood cells that help the immune system ward off foreign substances. If left unchecked, HIV can develop into AIDS. During such time, the virus may damage the immune system to an extent that it wouldn't be able to ward off minor infections that a healthy immune system would. A person with HIV could thus suffer from fever, chills, sweats, shortness of breath, white spots in the mouth, fatigue, skin rash and weight loss from time to time.
2. Respiratory system - As HIV develops into AIDS, the body can contract infections such as pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP), tuberculosis and Kaposi's sarcoma. These conditions lead to serious respiratory problems. PCP is found to be one of the most common infections among people with HIV. 85% of the people would develop the infection if the condition is left untreated.
3. Skin problems - As in healthy individuals, many skin conditions can also occur in people with HIV or AIDS. But a compromised immune system heightens the condition and causes difficulty in treatment. Dermatitis, psoriasis, and hives are common conditions. They are also prone to a rare type of skin cancer known as Kaposi's sarcoma.
4. Gastrointestinal System - Gastrointestinal disorders are the most common ailments for people diagnosed with HIV and AIDS. Problems faced include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, weight loss, abdominal pain and gastrointestinal bleeding. 50% of the people suffering from HIV encounter gastrointestinal disorders at some point of their illness. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Sexologist.

If you don't want pregnancy, you have two choices either take abortive pills for medical abortion or go to a gynecologist for curetting. Usually pills are safe and easy. But sometimes there is no effect of pills. Sometimes abortion is not complete so you will have to undergo curetting ultimately. So directly curetting is better.

Hello, if the lady is able to tolerate tablets well then tablets should be used else syrup is preferable, otherwise there is no difference in the efficacy. Regards.

Labour pain is spasmodic (comes and goes at regular interval and remains for few seconds upto 40 -45 seconds). If in doubt better to go to your doctor.

What Is Stenosing Tenosynovitis?

Stenosing tenosynovitis which is also known as trigger finger is a medical condition in which one of your fingers gets stuck in a bent position. Your finger may bend or straighten with a snap – like a trigger being pulled and released.

It occurs when inflammation narrows the space within the sheath that surrounds the tendon in the affected finger. If trigger finger is severe, the finger may become locked in a bent position.

People whose work or pursue hobbies require repetitive gripping actions and are at higher risk of developing trigger finger. The condition is also more common in women and in anyone with diabetes. Treatment of trigger finger varies depending on the ferocity.

Symptoms may progress from mild to severe which may include:

  • Finger stiffness, particularly in the morning
  • A popping or clicking sensation as you move your finger
  • Tenderness or a bump (nodule) in the palm at the base of the affected finger
  • Finger catching or locking in a bent position, which suddenly pops straight
  • Finger locked in a bent position, which you are unable to straighten

Trigger finger can affect any finger, including the thumb. More than one finger may be affected at a time, and both hands might be involved. It is usually noticeable in the morning, while firmly grasping an object or when straightening your finger.  the patient should seek immediate medical care if the finger joint is hot and inflamed, as these signs may indicate infection.

If you have any stiffness, catching, numbness or pain in a finger joint, or if you can’t straighten or bend a finger, fix an appointment with a doctor.

Factors that put at risk of developing trigger finger include:

Repeated gripping–  Occupations and hobbies that involve repetitive hand use and prolonged gripping may increase the risk of trigger finger.

Certain health problems- People who have diabetes or rheumatoid arthritis are at higher risk of developing trigger finger.

Your sex– Trigger finger is more common in women.

Carpal tunnel syndrome surgery–  Trigger finger may be a complication associated with surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome surgery, especially during the first six months after surgery.

Surgical and other procedures

Steroid injection- An injection of a steroid medication near or into the tendon sheath may reduce inflammation and allow the tendon to glide freely again. This is the most common treatment, and it’s usually effective for a year or more in most people treated. But sometimes it takes more than one injection.

For people with diabetes, steroid injections tend to be less effective.

Percutaneous release- After numbing palm, the doctor inserts a sturdy needle into the tissue around the affected tendon. Moving the needle and your finger helps break apart the constriction that’s blocking the smooth motion of the tendon.

This treatment may be done under ultrasound control so the doctor can see where the tip of the needle is under the skin to be sure it opens the tendon sheath without damaging the tendon or nearby nerves. This procedure is usually done in the doctor’s office or in an office procedure room.

Surgery- Working through a small incision near the base of the affected finger, a surgeon can cut open the constricted section of tendon sheath. This procedure is usually done in an operating room.


Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs — such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB) or naproxen (Aleve) — may relieve the pain but are unlikely to relieve the swelling constricting the tendon sheath or trapping the tendon.


Rest- Avoid activities that require repetitive gripping, repeated grasping or the prolonged use of vibrating hand-held machinery until your symptoms improve. If you can’t avoid these activities altogether, padded gloves may offer some protection.

A splint- Doctor may have you wear a splint at night to keep the affected finger in an extended position for up to six weeks. The splint helps rest the tendon.

Stretching exercises- Doctor may also suggest gentle exercises to help maintain mobility in the finger.

When you are in love with someone it feels like everything is just beautiful and you are excited to know about the other person. Have you known someone who constantly brings up their culture background and use it as a justification for their behavior (In our culture we don’t do this etc..). These various influences can sometimes create challenges in intimate relationships with a person from a different cultural background. For that matter, even couples from seemingly similar cultures may still have some navigate differences.

In my experience I have seen couples who struggle mainly because of the differences in their culture both in love and arrange marriages. In my opinion there are few things that can probably help to deal with these challenges

  • Understand and Explore: Celebrate the festivities unique to your partner’s homeland or religious tradition. Spend time getting to know his/her family. Relish the foods from your partner’s native country. You don’t necessarily have to adopt all of your significant other’s cultural practices. However, willingness to understand your partner’s culture demonstrates love and respect. The more you know the difference the better it is in future.
  • Respect Differences: Legitimate cultural differences exist and should not be glossed over; however, neither should these differences be blown out of proportion. If and when differing perspectives arise, seek to understand, rather than to judge.
  • Look for Commonalities: While it is important to be aware of culture differences, also look for common ground. Identify similar values, preferences and interests. You don’t have to share everything with your partner; however, sharing certain core values (such as honesty, hard work, Respect etc.) can help reduce tension in your relationship.
  • Keep What Matters Most to You: While understanding your partner’s culture is important, you shouldn’t feel pressured to discard cherished parts of your own cultural traditions. Inter-cultural relationships require compromise but should not force one party to abandon core parts of his/her identity.

Don’t Make Assumptions

You may be dating someone from a traditionally reserved culture; however, your partner may actually be quite extroverted. Don’t let cultural stereotypes dictate your understanding of your partner. Instead, let direct knowledge of your partner (his/her personality and opinions) inform your understanding. Additionally, some aspects of your partner’s cultural identity may be more (or less) important to him/her, so learn what matters most to your partner. Carefully discuss any expectations for the relationship and/or marriage that may be influenced by your upbringing; these factors may include perspectives on gender roles, intimacy, finances and the holidays.

One of the most important aspect of the culture differences comes to the planning of the future if this is discussed before you most likely won’t end up in the differences of opinion too often

Plan for the Future
Cultural differences often become more acute when it comes to getting  married or having children. Once a relationship becomes serious, you may have to make important decisions about where the wedding will be held, if/where you will worship and how your children will be raised Cultural differences can also affect parenting decisions such as discipline, helping your child define and understand his/her cultural identity and what language(s) will be spoken in the home.

Our culture is part of our worldview—and our worldview influences how we see everything, including relationships. Loving your partner means loving him/him for who he or she is and culture is a distinct part of that. While cultural differences can introduce certain challenges, these challenges are certainly manageable within the context of respectful and supportive relationships.

You may use olesan drops for rubbing on chest and also in steam inhaler. Use steam inhaler 2-3 times a day. Drink luke warm water with lemon and honey.
