When should I drink the warm lemon water in the morning? Before the brush or after the brush? please say me about the time gap to be taken for breakfast.

MD - PHYSCIAN
General Physician, Delhi
Drink the juice of one lemon in one cup of warm water first thing in the morning (on an empty stomach. Make sure to wait 30 minutes before eating breakfast, as this will ensure your body gets the most energy and nutrients from the food you eat. Use fresh lemons (preferably organic and locally grown) and mineral rich filtered water.

Is there any danger undergoing Root canal in the long run.I heard like my teeth will be dead and there is chance of anaerobic bacteria formation in that area.

BDS
Dentist, Delhi
Hi .Getting a RCT is completely safe.In this procedure we clean the nerve of the tooth.Enlarge it with our instruments so that the medicines we put in can completely clean it and make it bacteria free. This procedure is done to remove bacteria both aerobic and anaerobic from the root canal that are causing infection and causing the pain.We live with a lot of bacteria. They are in air,on land,on our skin,in our mouth. So there is nothing to worry about. We live with them mutually.

Whiten your teeth, lubricate your gums and get the flossing done by conducting one easy and simple folk remedy known as oil pulling. Get that extra shine on your teeth by sloshing your mouth with coconut, sesame or sunflower oil for 15 minutes and then spitting it out.

I have got sensitivity problem in my teeth. What I will do? I used sensodine but there is no relief.

PERIODONTIST, B.D.S.
Dentist, Navi Mumbai
Sensitivity of teeth is mostly due to loss of outer layer of teeth (enamel) and exposure of second layer of tooth (dentin). The dentine caries all sensation of air, water, cold to the nerve of tooth. So block these dentine layer you have to use desensitizing or nerve blocking tooth paste. You can use thermoseal ra, shy- nm, sensoform and also sensodyne. You have to use these pastes by applying it on your tooth surface for 5-7 minutes, after that you can brush with the same tooth paste. It takes time to recover this condition but if you make an effort nothing is impossible.

Often and at regular intervals while eating I cut my inner side of cheeks. From next day it gets reddish and pains too hard. I cannot eat even roti properly. If any thing touches that particular portion it pains a lot. The pain exists for at least 7 to 10 days.

By your symptoms it appears to be cheek biting means your teeth sharp cuspal edges are hurting your cheek. I advice you to visit your dentist so that he can roundoff sharp/pointed edges of your teeth which is creating a problem also he may prescripe you some ointment to apply locally over your cheek, so that wound healing get fast. Mean while avoid consuming spicy and hot food/beverages.

Dentist,
Read carefully:

If you haven't had your teeth cleaned in the last 3 to 6 months you could be spreading infection to the rest of your body. Please prevent oral systemic health issues by getting your teeth cleaned regularly from your dentist or hygienist. According to the american academy of periodontology, several studies have shown periodontal disease to be associated with heart disease.

Mouthwash - Should You Really Use Them?

Mouthwash - Should You Really Use Them?

Who doesn’t love the smell and the freshness of a mouthwash splashing across their oral cavities?

Many agree that the first thing that comes to their mind when they want to eliminate bad breath is to use a good mouth wash. Moreover, mouthwash has moved over to other realms and are now actively fighting gum and tooth problems along with their elder cousin, a toothpaste. However, there exists some scepticism that prolonged usage of mouthwash may not be good for your health. Let us look at some definitions in detail.

Can mouthwash reduce bad breath?
Yes, a mouthwash can temporarily restrict bad breath, but it is never a permanent solution. A good oral hygiene comes from regular brushing and flossing practice and these are still the best ways to curb bad breath from its root. Mouth rinses are used for a variety of reasons: to freshen up breath, to help prevent or control tooth decay, and to reduce plaque

Is it necessary to use mouthwash?
A mouthwash is not mandatory to give a good oral health. An effective routine of brushing and flossing your teeth is enough to take care of good oral hygiene. Mouthwash is like an add-on to your oral care regime and is definitely not an alternative for brushing and flossing.

Advantages of using a mouthwash
A mouthwash can easily go into places between your teeth and gums and can help remove food particles that might have missed when you brushed. It can be used to kill bad odour of your mouth temporarily and can freshen up your breath. In some cases, a mouthwash may be recommended to treat infection, reduce inflammation and relieve pain

Disadvantages of using a Mouthwash
Most of the mouthwash contain a high amount of alcohol content in them and their prolonged usage is not safe for your mouth. In some cases, alcohol causes sensitivity to the root surface of your teeth and this may lead to adverse effect on the senses of your teeth. Mouthwash is strictly meant for spitting and accidental consumption may not be good for your health. They actually contain products that can be very harmful if taken in large amounts. It is generally not advised for children and even adults can limit their usage to twice a day. Always check with your dentist before you take up and use a mouth wash. It is also best if you can opt for a homemade mouthwash that has natural ingredients in them for taking care of your bad breath. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a General Physician.

Get your treatment started as soon as possible. Bite a clove with the concerned tooth in the meanwhile - it might help.
