Dear, reassure your self, the time you feel like smoking, chew a cadamium or a peach. If you have symtomatic problem because of not smoking, there are nicotine chewing gums available, chew them when required. If you smoke and you feel it is must reduce the number of puffs and increase the duration of puff and along with the above measures you will drastically reduce smoking and if you have the determination you will ultimately give it up.

Can I take antioxylitic for 2 to 3 months for severe anxiety and then take natural treatment.

MBBS, MD Psychiatry, DNB Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Nagpur
Can I take antioxylitic for 2 to 3 months for severe anxiety and then take natural treatment.
Dose, duration of treatment and number of medications for anxiety disorders are decided according to various factors which include patient profile, nature and severity of symptoms, associated symptoms of sleep, diet, concentration, cognition, paranoia, aggression etc. So it is advisable to consult a psychiatrist personally with details before you start any treatment. Switching over of ongoing treatments for anxiety to so called natural treatments is completely a patients choice.

Hello, Take Schwabe’s Alpha-CF and Biocombination-11, both after every 2 hourly for 4 days. Management: -Sponging or bathing with tepid water. The use of a fan or air conditioning may somewhat reduce the temperature and increase comfort. If the temperature reaches the extremely high level of hyperpyrexia, aggressive cooling is required. -Take rest and drink plenty of fluids. -Take light, bland, properly cooked home-made healthy food only.

I am a 24 year old girl. I had a breakup and I am feeling low. I am a bit introvert, unable entire share my thoughts. The reason for the breakup was because he doesn't wanted to marry me.

M.Sc - Applied Psychology
Psychologist, Bangalore
Dear lybrate-user, its hard emotionally after a breakup and becomes even more harder if the person never had intentions of including you in lifes larger plans but is not it better that he communicated it to you so that you were free to make a choice than to keep you hanging with an unclear promise! young people of your age are still in stage of understanding what kind of partner they would like to have in their life and how they make choices depends on their awareness of their own selfs and needs and value system. Maybe your ex boy friends value system was not same as yours, maybe his expectations of a partner were different from yours, maybe his goals, dreams and aspirations were different as yours. If the bond is strong then with mutual understanding and love many of the difference are taken care of but that requires a huge amount of maturity. So if the break up has happened, you know why it has happened. Being an introvert surely makes moving on a bit difficult but nontheless its not impossible. You may hesitate to talk to known people and thats okay. You can definitely try consulting a counsellor as there will be a certain amount of comfort factor with regards to anonymity, also this platform will provide you the space to let out all the hurt, grief and pain that you must be holding inside you which should be let out or else they sure know how to create havoc in our mind and life. In counselling you will also be able to explore what works for and what does not besides getting in touch with your belief and value systems, see which ones are limiting your potentials and which are directing your life. Hope this was helpful for you.

Relationships are best maintained with good communication, and you have hit the nail on the head, so to say. You are well qualified and obviously know how and what to communicate. So is it possible that you may be afraid of people and then stutter and hesitate to talk to them? it usually comes from an inferiority complex and a fear of people. Would you know where this came from in your developmental years? it would help to speak to your parents and see if they remember anything that might have contributed to this development. Equipped with that information please meet with a counselor to help you sort out this fear. In the meantime you could do several other things to improve your communication. Do attend a conversations skills class, public speaking course, personality development course, elocution class and do a lot of reading, which will endow you, both with knowledge and vocabulary that will be very useful to your communication skills. You must make a conscious effort to meet with people and you can start slowly with one friend and through his help meet more of his friends and slowly you will become familiar with them and not fear them so much. There are social clubs, functions, meetings, conferences, workshops, seminars, toastmasters club etc. Which are very good avenues to meet other people who are all interested in some kind of topical concerns and they will feel less intimidating. To build good self-image, self-confidence, and self-esteem do regular exercise in a gym, practice spirituality, get proper sleep, educate yourself more, and eat a proper diet. Pay close attention to the way you dress, speak, conduct yourself in social settings, and relate to other people.

Signs That Show You Need a Mental Health Checkup

Diploma in Psychological Medicine, MBBS
Psychiatrist, Mumbai
Signs That Show You Need a Mental Health Checkup

Stress is very common these days due to the busy modern lifestyle and can cause symptoms of disorders of the mind. There are certain signs that foretell an impending mental problem, these signs should be taken seriously and a mental health professional should be consulted.

Some of these signs that indicate that you should go for a mental health checkup include:

1. Appetite disorder - Appetite problems such as loss of appetite or overeating may indicate mental problems. Moreover, eating foods excess in fat and sugar can indicate signs of stress.

2. Difficulties in interpersonal communication - Progressive reduction in interaction with people to no communication at all indicates signs of stress and a mental health professional should be consulted in this case.

3. Insomnia - Significant modifications in sleeping patterns or not being able to sleep due to stress for a long duration of time need to be addressed as they can result in complications.

4. Overactive mind - The overactive mind is a cause of anxiety where the mind is always thinking and thoughts race through causing anxiety and an inability to relax. A normally active mind is healthy but an overactive mind which can't seem to relax for extended periods of time should be looked into.

5. Lack of interest in activities - Showing symptoms were once fun activities seem worrisome and fearful can indicate signs of mental disorders.

6. Emotional distress causing problems at work and home - Inability to focus at work or everyday activities due to emotional stress can result in depression. Thus, symptoms such as these should be diagnosed at the earliest to prevent complications.

'Consult'.

Tip: Having B Vitamins may improve your brain health

Reach out to a friend or counselor or talk about the stress and you will immediately feel relief. In the meantime do some of these recommendations very faithfully: Daily exercise of at least half an hour is a must. Even if you go to a gym, ask for aerobic and/or callisthenic exercises with whatever else you are doing. A healthy body harbors a healthy mind. With regard to memory, it is very important that your brain and body is ideally rested to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. Puzzles pose problems to the brain that help it to use new pathways and neurons, which give the brain considerable exercise. It taxes the left brain to use logic to solve the myriad possibilities which other activities do not stimulate. Crosswords are excellent for vocabulary learning and use. Jigsaws and Rubik cube stimulate different permutations to finally settle on the most likely one. Picture completion and anagrams help approach problem-solving from several angles. Do Sudoku, and memory co-relation activities and skills. Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), nuts, avocado, eat dark chocolate, consume less of fat and use olive oil instead, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Have a special place of learning, which should be well lit, with soft painted walls, well-ventilated, with no distractions. When you get bored, study by writing. If you repeat learning, at least, five to seven times, you will apparently remember for a longer time. Sit comfortably but do not slouch. The reading material should be of a fairly large print. Study at small intervals of about 40 minutes and then take a break or change the subject. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. There is a new exercise called Super Brain Yoga, which is done by holding the right earlobe with your left thumb and index finger, and the left earlobe with your right hand’s thumb and index finger. In this position, you must squat down and rise up and do this for five minutes every day. There is some memory enhancing techniques and study methods that your teacher will be able to guide you with. If your home life is full of distractions and stress, it is likely to affect your memory, adversely. In that case, I suggest that the family goes for counseling too. The following foods do help too: Blueberries, walnuts, turmeric, Spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, acorn squash, green tea, oily fish, boiled egg, turkey, apples, oatmeal, leafy greens, lentils, pumpkin seeds, avocado, cinnamon, thyme, sunflower seeds, and red wine. Avoid sugar and junk food.

Yes, this may be true because of your age. I suspect that you are going through a spurt in the production of the male sex hormone, which affects you in three ways quite unknown to you. First, there will be a sexual agenda that it will kick off, secondly, there will be aggressiveness and rebelliousness, and thirdly, you will suffer from acne and pimple problems. This is the effect of the hormone that has a duration of almost two years and you will have no control over it. But if you have a good value system you will tide over this phase without significant damage. The hormonal imbalances may not only impact your memory because of the chemical but also bring along some distractions that come with it. But you may work on the following even if the hormones kick in: Daily exercise of at least half an hour is a must. Even if you go to a gym, ask for aerobic and/or callisthenic exercises with whatever else you are doing. A healthy body harbors a healthy mind. With regard to memory, it is very important that your brain and body is ideally rested to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. Night shifts cause a shifting of the body s normal bio rythms. Try and exercise in the evenings regularly. Exercise like yoga or walking help by building BDNF in the brain and also release endorphins and enkephalins which are natural pain killers.

I suspect that the adolescent issues with regard to hormones may be affecting your ability to concentrate and remember. When the hormones play up, it lasts for a period of close to two years and during that time you could be influenced by three signs directly impacted by the chemical: you will tend to become aggressive and rebellious, you will become sexually active, and you will have acne and pimple problems.
