Mouth cancer may present as non healing ulcer or frank growth. As precaution, avoid any addiction like tobacco chewing and maintain good oral hygiene by brushing twice daily and cleaning the mouth after eating anything.

Is cancer a genetic disease? As because three of my aunt that is my mother's sisters had cancer and all of them are own sister. Please help me with this.
Some cancers have strong genetic background such as breast cancer and cancer of uterus. What cancers your relatives had? genetic testing may be indicated to identify the genetic mutation after I get the detailed information of the cancer in family. This will help in very early diagnosis of possible cancer.

Breast cancer can occur from any age usually after 25 years. It is more common after the age of 40 years. The symptoms include nipple discharge, and swelling. The ladies are advised to do breast self examination by standing in front of the mirror and noting for any changes. Also, some screening tests like mammography are indicated. If there are any symptoms, please describe them in detail so that I can suggest tests and help you further.

My father has cancer in food pipe at 3rd stage. We don't want to go for chemo therpahy of radiations. Is there any oral medicine to procure the diseases.
Hello, I understand that you wish simple treatment for your father due to his advanced age. However, oral medicines are given only for some symptom relief and they will not cure the disease. Also, to exactly comment the treatment required, I need to see all the reports. If at all, your family does not wish for treatment due to poor health, oral chemotherapy (metronomic chemotherapy) can be given. I need to see the reports and know his weight, height to prescribe.

Chickens and cows also are affected by cancer. It is important to know that cancer does not spread by eating or touch. It is not an infectious disease. But it is necessary to maintain hygiene and eat well cooked food so that other infections are avoided.
My mother is 40 Yrs old n she had suffered from breast cancer 3 Yrs later. Now the the cancer is overcome but a new problem of' lymphedema has invite to her right arm (cancer affected side, Now she is wearing a belt given by the doctor but there is not much improvement and 8 months have passedpassed. I wanted to know that is there any suggestion you would provide to overcome it?
Hello Mr. Lybrate-user. Your mother is suffering from post surgery lymphedema. 1. Though it is difficult to cure this condition but certainly there are ways to minimize the lymphedema by proper exercises and use of compression sleeves. I can demonstrate you some exercises if you choose to discuss with me on (lybrate). 2. You can consult a physiotherapist (a doctor with md in physiotherapy) for this problem. 3. Compression sleeves can help to reduce the swelling. To prescribe the exact one, I need to know the measurement of your mother's right hand from the shoulder tip and if possible, a clear picture of the right arm with swelling. This will help me to prescribe the exact size and pressure required for the compression sleeves.

His chemotherapy start from tomorrow. His bones are weak. After chemotherapy how many month he take to recover nd we when we operate my father for hip so he can walk properly?
Hello, if there is any fracture, it should be stabilised first, if possible. Radiotherapy is usually given to the metastatic bones. I need to see the bone scan report so that I can exactly prescribe the treatment.

Mini meals in increase number is better than regular large meals. If apetite is better in morning, a good breakfast should be emphasized. Getting some exercise before meals and maintaining surrounding and reducing stress are sometime helpful.
2. Protein: additional protein is essential to provide essential amino acids and nitrogen necessary for tissue regeneration, healing and rehabilitation. An adult patient with good nutritional status will need about 80 to 100 gms. A malnurished patient will need more to replenish tissue.

When the patient is unable to eat but the gastro intestinal tract can still be used, tube feeding may be needed to provide the necessary nutritional support.
