I am having some sort of irritation while bowel movement and its seems that something has been stuck from last 1 week. I consulted doctor today he said that I am having an anal fissure. He gave me medicines for 1 month (Gutwin 400 and one more) and asked me to make changes in the diet and said it will heal. I am concerned about how serious is this issue and what time will it take to heal? I am not having any bleeding during bowel movement. Just a sort of uneasiness while sitting. Please help me.
Hello, Warm baths are soothing and they may help the back passage (anus) to relax which may ease the pain. A cream or ointment that contains an anaesthetic such as lidocaine may help to ease the pain. You should only use this for short periods (up to 5-7 days). If you use it for longer, the anaesthetic may irritate or sensitise the skin around the anus. You can obtain one of these creams or ointments on prescription. You can also buy some of these products at pharmacies, without a prescription. The cream/ointment should be applied before going to the toilet. A cream or ointment that contains steroid medication may be prescribed by a doctor if there is a lot of swelling (inflammation) around the fissure. Steroids reduce inflammation and they may help to reduce any swelling around a fissure. This may help to ease any itch and pain. You should not use it for longer than one week at a time. Wash the anus carefully with water after you go to the toilet. Dry gently. Don't use soap whilst it is sore as it may cause irritation. Painkillers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen may help to ease the pain (but avoid codeine - see below). Thanks.

I had d&c 3rd dec at 13 week pregnancy. Now I always feeling discomfort left side of stomach and my Dr. said this was because of gas and suggest me ppz40 but I am worried about it because after 2 days of meditation it’s same.
Hello, Inform your doctor if you do not feel better after taking it for 14 days as you may be suffering from some other problem that needs attention. Ppz can decrease magnesium levels in blood. Get your magnesium levels checked regularly. You may need a magnesium supplement or need to discontinue your medicine. Inform your doctor if you are suffering from osteoporosis as Ppz can weaken your bones by decreasing calcium levels in blood. You may need a calcium supplement, preferably calcium citrate. Ppz is a well-tolerated medicine and provides relief for a long time. It may take a few days to show its effect. You can take an antacid for a quick relief during this time unless your doctor has asked you not to use them. Once you start feeling better, do not stop taking your medicine. Take it for the duration as advised by your doctor thanks.

Hi my mother is of 57 years and she has gall bladder removal surgery today with genital anesthesia. Now she wake up of sleep. She is complaining about severe pain in head, eye and neck. And also nausea. Please suggest.
General Surgeon, Gandhinagar
Hello dear lybrate-user, hi Warm welcome to Lybrate.com I have evaluated your query for your mother thoroughly.* The pain in head, eyes, neck are from general anesthesia reversal effect, which recovers within 12 - 24 hours (might be prolonged general anesthesia), ask doctor about her BP is okay?* Nausea is from anesthesia induction, nil by mouth stage, antibiotics administered in IV line, stress induced gastritis as multiple factors. Proper IV medicines must be on for this as Injection ranitidine, pantoprazole, ondancetron or else by your expert surgeon. Hope this clears your query. Wishing her fine recovery. Welcome for any further assistance. Regards take care.

ANAL fissures may get worse with constipation and you should do best possible efforts to reduce constipation because when you strain to pass stools, the repaired fissure may again get aggravated and the skin may again cracked worsening the situation. Chia seeds/ flax seeds are a great source of fiber and must be tried.

Hi piles and fissure can be painful and troublesome. please consult a surgeon who after examination would confirm the diagnosis and advice further treatment of piles and fissure. I think you are having fanal fissure and abscess. Conservative measures like taking laxatives ,taking certain medications either allopathic or Ayurvedic and eating high-fibre diet will relieve your problem temporarily .you can use these measures to get imediate relief. Definitely treatment for fissure is surgical management. Laser treatment for fissure is definite treatment .it is a 10 minute painless procedure, no dressing is required post surgery. Post surgery you will be on proper diet chart and certain pelvic floor exercises will be taught to you which will help you avoid constipation in long run. you can contact through Lybrate for further details.

Hi sir, my stomach is not getting clear in morning. I will keep feeling heaviness in stomach through out the day. I do not have habit to eat outside. I go for morning walk as well. I also take warm water in morning. But problem is not going away.
Nutrition - Management of Weight & Lifestyle Related Disorders
Start incorporating fibre in your diet like, whole grain cereals- oats bran/wheat bran/museli in your diet. You should also start drinking lots of water, atleast 10-15 glases of water. For heaviness, you should eat small and frequent meals, donot drink water with your meals, give a gap of atleast half an hour before and after your meals, and also add triphla for a cleared stomach.
