एवोकाडो का नाम सुनकर ही ऐसा लगता है. जैसे यह कोई विदेशी पौधा हो दरअसल इसे अमेरिका में उगाया जाता है. एवोकाडो एक सदाबहार पेड़ है. जोकि हमारे लिए कई तरह के स्वास्थ्य लाभ प्रदान करने वाला है. यदि हम एवोकाडो में पाए जाने वाले पोषक तत्व और अन्य पदार्थों की बात करें तो इसमें फैटी एसिड से भरपूर मात्रा में पाई जाती है.

इसमें कैल्शियम, पोटेशियम, फास्फोरस, लोहा, मैग्नीशियम, मैग्नीशियम और तांबा आदि खनिजों के साथ-साथ विटामिन बी-6, विटामिन ए, विटामिन डी, विटामिन सी, विटामिन के और विटामिन ए भी पाया जाता है. इसके अलावा एवोकाडो, फाइबर का भी एक अच्छा स्रोत माना जाता है. एवोकाडो के सेवन से शरीर में होने वाली कई परेशानियों से बच सकते हैं. कोलेस्ट्रॉल का स्तर कम करने में भी इसकी महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका है. तो आइए एवोकाडो के फायदे और नुकसान को निम्नलिखित बिंदुओं के द्वारा समझने की कोशिश करें.

2. Exercise
An obese person needs to exercise regularly. If you find it difficult to do exercise, take baby steps. Start with easy sitting and lying exercises. OVERVIEW

Urinary Tract Infections are common infections, affect men and women of all ages, and vary dramatically in their presentation and sequelae.

Urinary Tract Infections are a common cause of morbidity and can lead to significant mortality.

WHAT IS AN UTI?

A UTI is an infection involving any part of the Urinary Tract such as the Urethra, Urinary Bladder and the Kidneys.

UTI is an inflammatory response of the urothelium (lining of the urinary tract) to bacterial invasion.

INCIDENCE AND EPIDEMIOLOGY

Women are most at risk for a UTI. Nearly half of all women (50%) will experience a UTI during their lifetime.

WHY?

Women have a short urethra which makes it easier for the bacteria to enter the bladder and cause infections. Also the urethra is in close proximity to the anal canal, which is the source of these organisms.

What causes the UTI`s?

The most common causative organisms of UTI`s are bacteria from the bowel such as E.coli, proteus, pseudomonas etc.

Once the bacteria enter the urethra, they travel upwards causing infection in the bladder and sometimes other parts of the urinary tract.

Sexual intercourse is commonly associated with UTI`s in women. During intercourse, the bacteria in the vaginal area are sometimes transferred into the urethra by the motion of the penis.

Using spermicides or a diaphragm also can cause more frequent UTI`S , due to increased binding of the organisms to the lining of the urethra.

Menopause also increases the risk of getting a UTI. During menopause, the level of estrogen decreases which causes changes in the periurethral tissues that can lead to a UTI.

In men, urethritis is usually the result of bacteria acquired during sexual contact.

SYMPTOMS AND SIGNS OF A UTI

  1. A strong persistent urge to urinate.
  2. A burning sensation during or after urination.
  3. Passing frequent, small amounts of urine.
  4. Blood in the urine (Hematuria) / Cloudy Urine / Foul smelling urine.
  5. Pain in the lower abdomen and the pelvis.
  6. Penile discharge in men.
  7. Pain in the flank region/ back, fever , nausea and vomiting, fatigue  (Infection of the kidneys)

HOW ARE UTI`S DIAGNOSED?

The Urologist will take a proper history and examine the patient and order some basic investigations like Urine Analysis and Urine Culture and sensitivity. UTI`S in males require more detailed investigations like the Ultrasound of the Abdomen to elucidate the cause of UTI.

TREATMENT

Based on the severity of the symptoms, the urologist may prescribe antibiotics empirically based on the common sensitivity patterns. The antibiotic may be changed based on the Urine C/S report , which usually takes around 48 hours time. You may also be prescribed a medicine that will relax the bladder while the antibiotic starts to work.

Patients must make sure they take the complete course of treatment as directed and to return back if the symptoms are not relieved.

Patients are also advised to drink plenty of oral fluids, which help in flushing out the bacteria from the urinary tract. Patients are also asked to avoid coffee, alcohol, and soft drinks containing caffeine until the infection is cleared because these can irritate the bladder and cause worsening of symptoms.

Kidney Infections (Pyelonephritis) usually require hospitalization and more intensive management.

PREVENTION OF UTI`S

  1. Drink plenty of oral fluids to flush out the bacteria
  2. Do NOT hold the urine for long periods of time. Urinate when you feel
  3. Wipe from front to back after a bowel movement.
  4. Urinate before and after sexual contact emptying the bladder completely each time.
  5. Avoid using spermicides/ diaphragms , in case of recurrent UTI`s
  6. Avoid use of feminine “hygeiene” products like douches and sprays, which could upset the delicate bacterial balance of the genital region.

If the opening closes for a few days, the pus gets trapped leading to fever and abscess. It is, therefore, important to get rid of the mucus and the pus completely and heal the fistula. In case of multiple openings, modern medicine suggests surgery to get rid of the situation. Ayurveda on the other hand, uses oils, herbs, and other such non-inflammatory means to cure the condition.

Digestive fire from the Ayurvedic viewpoint:
Digestion only happens smoothly when the Jatharagni/Agni is strong. With natural food and supplements and herbs it is entirely possible to balance the digestive fire. Raw fruits, vegetables, and nuts are the ideal diet to heal this condition. It is suggested that two tablespoons of Triphala Guggul and 1 tablespoon of Vara Churna should be consumed daily, twice a day, Nirgundi oil should be applied locally every day and 2 tablespoons of curcumin should be consumed daily.

  1. Triphala Guggul: This formulation consists of two very important herbs- Guggul and Triphala. Both these herbs helps the body’s defence mechanism. This formulation is anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial in nature. Both the herbs help in toning the gastrointestinal tract, streamline the flow of bile and aids the intestine to effectively eradicate bodily waste.
  2. Vara Churna: Vara Churna is a formulation that contains several herbs such as amalaki, bibhitaka, haritaki etc. This formulation helps clean the colon and strengthen the GIT. This formulation is effective for vata, kapha, and pitta. Vara Churna is extremely effective for rectifying constipation, aiding blood circulation improving liver function and balancing the blood pressure.
  3. Nirgundi Oil: This oil is made up from the herb Nigundo. This herb is pungent, bitter and astringent in flavour. It is a natural antibiotic and is an anti-inflammatory. This oil can relax the muscles, reduce congestion and pain.

Hii. To loose weight only exercises will not do the work. U need to have proper balanced diet as well. Most of us think that it's OK to eat more food since we are working out. But thats not the thing. Start having 6 small meals rather than 3 large meals. Share your daily routine in detail. Remember weight loss is not a matter of one or two days. It is a prolonged process. You need to b patient and follow a healthy lifestyle. It's always better to consult privately by sharing your routine in detail and with all the medical conditions if any. Avoid sugar and fatty foods. Rest you don't need to skip anything if following a proper balanced diet. Include fibers in the diet and do cardio exercises such as walking, running, jumping, skipping, aerobics, dancing, etc.

Combined action of exercise and diet will give you the proper fat burning. Do the cardio with tummy exercises like crunches, Twist crunches, Reverse crumbs, Lunge twist, The stomach vacuum, Rolling prank exercise, bending side to side etc. Beginning start with 20 min exercise and day by day increase the intensity and reach maximum one hour. With the exercise for a time period if there avoid the intake of alcohol, soft drinks, deep fried items, pastries and sweets. Avoid heavy meals, divide main heavy 3 meals and take 6 small meals with 2.5 to 3 hours gap. Include all different colored vegetables and fruits, don't stick with a particular type of food. Include good source of proteins (egg, chicken, skimmed milk, fish, all pulses, legumes and beans.) in a healthy preparation. Calculate oil consumption of your house as 1/2 liter per person per month. Be regular in exercise and take at least 3 liter of water in a day.

A quite serious bacterial infection, diphtheria is caused by the Corynebacterium diphtheria. It usually tends to affect the throat and the mouth of an affected person, although there are other varieties which can infect your skin as well. However, the most common cases of diphtheria affect the throat and the mouth. 

Symptoms of diphtheria in general
It may take up to five days for symptoms to show up when you are infected with the disease. Some of the symptoms would be:

  1. You neck would swell up due to swelling in the lymph nodes, especially in the neck
  2. Your throat and tonsils will develop a thick grayish membrane 
  3. Your throat may become sore and hoarse
  4. You may face difficulty in breathing, depending on the size of the membrane and the resultant inflammation
  5. You may have difficulty swallowing as well

These are the primary symptoms which will affect your throat in general. Some of the other symptoms that may show up are:

  1. Fever
  2. Nasal discharge
  3. Malaise or a general feeling of discomfort 
  4. Chills

The parts of your body, which are affected the most tend to be your throat, tongue and the neck. The pain tends to persist for quite some time as you recover.

Causes of diphtheria 
Diphtheria is usually spread by the following methods

  1. Airborne droplets: This is possibly the most common method of contracting the disease. This usually happens when a person is infected with diphtheria coughs or sneezes around you. The airborne droplets then travel from one person to another, transmitting the infection. This is particularly the case in crowded area such as public transport and public spaces.
  2. Touching personal items which may be infected: Touching used towels, paper tissues or drinking from an unwashed glass may cause an infection as well. These tend to happen mostly in an indoor setting such as offices and houses. Even toys, door and equipment handles can cause transmission of this virus. 

If you are showing any of these symptoms, it is prudent to go visit your doctor immediately as diphtheria, if left untreated, may also result in serious complications.

Hi you need a professional help for the same. please do work out for at least 50 mins, you can start with a walk. Take 5 small meals rather than having 3 big meals, include 2 fruits and 3 serving of veg in a day in your diet, include milk and milk products like curd, paneer etc, have sufficient water, avoid tea, coffee, alcohol, avoid fried and junk food, restrict to 2-3 spoons of sugar in a day, salt intake must be moderate, avoid heavy meals at night, for further details feel free to call me.

Hi, Include whole grain cereals, legumes and pulses, vegetables, fruits, Whole milk and other dairy products, lean meat, fish, egg, whole milk. Avoid refined flour, red meat, oily and fat foods, junk food, sugary foods, alcohol, butter, ghee. Stay hydrated all the time. You have to do exercise/ workout in order to get rid of extra calories if any. For your post workout meal include oats with milk, paneer, skin out chicken (stewed preferably), fish (salmon, mackerel, tuna), egg white, sprouts, quinoa as they all are rich in protein. Consider taking olive oil, almonds, dry dates, green tea as they help you relieve your stress and build up strength and immunity. You can go with any one of the above according to your wish list. Its better a take a pre-workout snack which consists of carbohydrate, it can be a fruit, a breakfast cereal in a limited quantity, milkshake without excess sugar. It is not necessary that you have to stick to the same regime, you can change it accordingly but you have to see that the options are healthy and mind your portions to avoid fat deposition in your body.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. There are some studies going on since many years for developing a vaccine for T1 diabetes, however, still there no success. Now the expectation is by 2018 there may be a possibility of introduction of such a vaccine. For T1 DM but at present there is no vaccine. Plus for T2 diabetes there is possibility of that at all. Thanks.
