Firstly, you should learn more about Diabetes and it's management (you can use the internet to gain the knowledge so that you can decide on your own how to move on ). Moreover, it is advisable to consult a doctor personally and seek help (do not stop or change any medicine on your own as it can be unsafe ). Ofcourse, you should follow a healthy lifestyle and be disciplined (it is advisable even to people who are on medications ). Secondly, please feel free to talk to your doctor and also discuss anything that requires clarification. Thirdly, you should always go for regular health check up and investigations so that you can take the right steps at the right time. Please follow a daily exercise regime (it can be even any sports activity!). Learn yoga and pranayam which can naturally help your body to respond in a positive manner.

As she is having so many problems of different types they have to be controlled with multiple medicines and few of them more than one time in a day. Dietary modifications and regular exercise like walking and yoga are helpful in diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol. Pan D should not be taken regularly for longer periods. It has serious side effects if taken continuously. Use of Lonapam should be discouraged. Fasting sugar needs attention. Discuss these issues with your Doctor.

Follow diabetic diet strictly. Take lots of vegetables and salad. Use whole grains and flour made of it instead of refined one. Take small frequent meals instead of large ones. Avoid junk food, soft drinks fruit juices (use non sweet fruits in moderation). Execise regularly like walking yoga etc. Remain physically active most of the time. If blood sugar not controlled with these measures start medicine as per advice of a Physician. Monitor blood sugar regularly. Do not compare with other diabetic patients.

Diabetes: The Disease With Bitter Consequences!

Diabetes: The Disease With Bitter Consequences!

Diabetes, frequently alluded to by specialists as diabetes mellitus, it depicts a gathering of metabolic illnesses in which the individual has high level of glucose in the blood (blood sugar), either in light of the fact that the production of insulin is insufficient, or on the grounds that the cells of the body don't react appropriately to insulin, or both. Patients with high blood sugar will commonly encounter polyuria (continuous pee), they will turn out to be progressively parched (polydipsia) and hungry (polyphagia).

1. It's the start of the holiday season, which implies heaps of candies, cookies, cakes, and different treats wherever you go. And, numerous individuals with sort 2 diabetes accept that their finding implies they should starve their sweet tooth and say no to these seasonal treats. Yet, is that truly the case?

Joyfully, say experts, the answer is no watchful way to deal with planning your diabetes diet and it implies you don't need to kiss desserts farewell. Yet, to have the capacity to appreciate that pumpkin pie or bit of cake without blame while holding your blood sugar levels in line, you have to know:

a. What you are eating
b. How much you are eating
c. Carbohydrate, sugar, and calorie substance of all that you devour

Impacts:
After you eat or drink, your body separates the sugars in your blood and transforms it into glucose. The glucose goes through your bloodstream and gives your body vitality. To fulfill this, your pancreas needs to deliver a hormone called insulin. In a man with (diabetes mellitus), the pancreas either delivers too little insulin or none by any means, or the insulin can't be utilized viably. This permits blood glucose levels to rise while whatever is left of your cells are denied of greatly required vitality. This can prompt a wide assortment of issues influencing about all aspects of your body.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Fasting glucose 207 mg/ 100 ml, is showing uncontrolled diabetes. This means after food your glucose level will reach 300 plus or even more. This needs immediate initiation of treatment with appropriate anti-diabetic drugs, diet control and regular exercise to reduce weight. Presently with a BMI of 30.03 kgs /M2 you are already in grade 1 obesity. Your ideal body weight should be about 67 kgs & BMI should be < 23 kgs/M2. You are carrying almost 21 kgs extra. This itself is the invitation for diabetes. You have to avoid sweets, deep fried foods, pastries, junk foods, bakery items, foods made from maida, colas, and juices. Also refrain from smoking and alcohol. Increase the intake of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits. Always use whole grain flour for chapati & roti. Better if you use less polished rice. Avoid red meat. Plus diet should be giving calories based on ideal body weight, not on current one. Plus you will have to exercise over 1 hour a day. In this communication we are supposed to give only general guidelines, no drug prescriptions are allowed. So my suggestion is if you want online help, (from me), please come in a private conversation (paid consultation) with following details: Fasting, PP glucose levels, HbA1c%, present diet pattern, extent of daily exercise, lipid profile and BP readings, then I will be able to guide specifically and even prescribe the required drugs. Or else please consult your local physician and initiate the treatment, do not neglect or delay. Thanks.

lybrate-user ji, Thanks for the query. I have gone through the details given. When fasting is above normal (101 to 125 mg) it is considered as Fasting Impaired Glucose. It could be a signal for future development of diabetes. One of the causes for this is resistance to insulin action & presence of obesity. With a BMI of 29.72 kgs/M2 (normal < 23 kgs/M2), you are already closer to being in grade 1 obesity. Your ideal body weight should be around 62 kgs. I hope you understand the need to reduce weight. Thanks.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Well theoretically it is possible to lead such a life. However, it rather impossible to avoid either salt or sugar totally from our food. Because sodium is present in many substances including food grains, and other materials that one consumes. Similarly all the carbohydrates that are consumed ultimately get converted to glucose. So I am not sure whether your wish is practical or not. Plus body needs sodium, which is an important ingredient of of our extra cellular fulid. Also required certain metabolic activities. Similarly brain utilizes only glucose for its energy needs. It needs 120 g per 24 hours. Without which it will suffer. Thanks.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Following are the criteria to decide whether a person is normal, pre-diabetic or diabetic: 1) FBG 70 to 100 mg, PP < 140 mg, HbA1c% <5.7 2) Pre-diabetes: FBG 101 to 125 mg, PP 141 to 199 mg & HbA1c% 5.7 to 6.4. 3) FBG: 126 mg and above, PP 200 mg and above, HbA1c% 6.5 and above. I think I have answered the question. Thanks.
