My age is 26 I am taking health Ok' Multivitamins to be fit. So please help me how many months I use it. And how many...
The body needs these nutrients for reproduction, maintenance, growth and regulation of bodily processes. Multivitamins may contain many of these vitamins and minerals, but in varying forms and amounts Vitamins are a synthetic substance and are best absorbed in your body when they are taken with food and its naturally occurring vitamins. Since these are known as the energy vitamins, it's definitely better to take them in the morning, since taking them at night can interfere with a good night's sleep. The multivitamin can be had with water, and should be taken 1 hour after tea coffee or green tea. Milk does not interfere with the absorption of any vitamins or minerals except iron, since the calcium can make it hard for the intestines to absorb iron. Take iron supplements at least one hour before or two hours after drinking milk. If the supplement contains iron, which mostly it would, have it with water. Multivitamin can be taken for 3 to 6 months at a stretch as the RDAs of the micronutrients are much lesser due to a comprehensive list present together in a multivitamin.

Dear lybrate-user, I Would firstly suggest that with haemoglobin level 9 it is important to first correct it before taking up any activity due to the risk of fainting or feeling very drained during the workout. The various sources of Iron through food is Beans and lentils. Tofu. Baked potatoes. Cashews. Dark green leafy vegetables such as spinach. Fortified breakfast cereals. Whole-grain and enriched breads. However it is important to take iron medication alongside due to lower levels of iron, also its important to understand what caused the haemoglobin to drop if you had a previously higher haemoglobin level. Also look into Vitamin b12 and Ferritin levels which would also be contributing to a lower iron level. As far as psoriasis is concerned, Homeopathy does tend to have a great deal of success as far as psoriasis is considered. Please try an approach and understand deeply the cause of your flare up. Meanwhile dietary intervention for it is to avoid dairy products.

Hi .plz tell me having milk with tea leaves increase our weight or not. Adding sugar powder having zero calories.
Hi lybrate-user, Kindly note that milk with tea per say does not effect the weight as long as milk is skim in nature and the sugar is a sugar free substitute. However if the milk is cow's milk or buffalo's milk then, the chances of gaining weight with regular consumption of tea twice in the day could lead to weight gain. It is also very important to note that if a person has intolerance or sensitivity to milk, then, milk should be avoided, as consumption would lead to heaviness and bloating. For people who like tea, but cannot have milk, can make a homemade almond milk of 6-8 soaked almonds and make tea out of that milk. However it should be kept in mind that overall almond consumption of the day should be monitored top not use excess of almonds through the milk and nuts consumption. Kindly suggest that you can have skim milk tea with no sugar added and add more ginger, mint, lemongrass, elaichi powder to get anti inflammatory benefits of tea. If you have acidity but still like to have tea, then eat a fruit 30 mins before consuming tea to avoid acidity attacks.

Should I try gaining weight, if so what's the best way to go about it? I tend to feel very light headed every time I stand up after a long and even short period of sitting. Even after smoking a cigarette, the head rush is prominent.

Hi lybrate-user, Firstly before dealing with weight gain, please try to understand and focus on the light headed issue and find out where it is coming from. It could be high blood pressure or vertigo or dehydration which could a be a cause for sudden change of movement. Kindly first explore how it happens and when it happens, is it when you have eaten less or drank less water or when you get up in a jiffy or when you have pre done something stressful for the body. Kindly show it to a Doctor as its very important to understand the source. As far as weight gain is concerned, it is essential to weight train to cause hypertrophy of muscle and also it is important to eat a larger ratio of carbohydrates over protein to see muscle gain.

Why Is Vitamin B12 Important For Your Health?

Why Is Vitamin B12 Important For Your Health?

The human body requires the basic nutrients for its normal functioning which are carbohydrates, fats and proteins. However, there are certain vital vitamins and minerals too, that are equally important because these help in maintaining the proper health of a human body in various ways. One such vitamin is Vitamin B complex of which, there is a crucial vitamin known as Vitamin B12 or scientifically called as Cobalamin.

Functions of Vitamin B12: Vitamin B12 plays a major role by controlling several factors of the human body. These are necessary for the body to run well and stay healthy. Some of the key functions of Vitamin B12 are listed below:

  1. It is responsible for the conversion of raw carbohydrate matter that enters into the body in the form of food into glucose that is the driving energy for the body. Therefore, in a way it helps to keep the continuity of energy production in the human body and its deficiency, therefore, can lead to fatigue or weakness.
  2. Every single nature of human cells is related to the DNA and RNA that define the genetics and hereditary factors of a human body. Vitamin B12 assists in the creation of this DNA and RNA.
  3. Vitamin B12 also helps in the production of nerve cells in the human body by maintaining the covering of the nerve cells or neurones known as the myelin sheaths. This helps to free the body from the reach of toxins and free radicals that can be very harmful to the human body. Hence, any shortage of Vitamin B12 can damage the nerve cells in a considerable manner.
  4. The bones of the human body need Vitamin B12 as well and any deficiency of Vitamin B12 can cause osteoporosis and other bone issues.
  5. Vitamin B12 in association with another vitamin known as Vitamin B9 (folate or folic acid) helps in the manufacture of red blood cells that help in impressive iron functioning, which is the main oxygen carrier of the human blood. Quite evidently, its deficiency can lead to shortness of breath and other breathing disorders.
  6. Even heart requires an adequate amount of Vitamin B12 along with Vitamin B6 and Vitamin B9 so that appropriate levels of amino acid named homocysteine are produced that is a deciding factor in heart diseases.
  7. Vitamin B12 is an essential component affecting the brain health too, and any deficiency of Vitamin B12 can often lead to various brain disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease and the like.

In fact, Vitamin B12 has also been found to regulate mood and emotions of humans. Above all, Vitamin B12 is vital for keeping an individual happy and healthy by revitalising the body cells and making him or her feel youthful and vibrant all the time.

Hi, Sir my vitamin vitamin 12 level is 217, hence I want to increase my vitamin 12 level .sir please tell me medicine...
Hi lybrate-user, The Vitamin b12 is low and definitely needs to be taken care of by medication and food sources rich in B12. The food sources are Vitamin B12 is naturally found in animal products, including fish, meat, poultry, eggs, milk, and milk products. Vitamin B12 is generally not present in plant foods, but fortified breakfast cereals are a readily available source of vitamin B12 with high bioavailability for vegetarians. The vitamin b12 medication can be taken in form of an injection a week, vitocofol for a month or take meganeuron od + daily for 3 months. Vitamin b12 plays a role in nerve functioning and can slow down the body and so it must be taken care of to keep it at a normal level in the body.

I am 24 and I am going to gym last 4 months can I use white musli for built muscle?
Hi lybrate-user, you can use Muesli, but make sure firstly its not loaded with only rice or corn flakes but also combined with several other options which are complex in nature such as whole wheat or ragi or oats flakes. Muesli must be low on sugar and you can avoid maple syrup or fructose syrup based sweetened muesli, choose more of an organic muesli instead. It is also a good option pre workout than post workout as post workout you must have fast absorbed carbs such as mixed grapefruit juice, watermelon, banana or glucose first and then have fast absorbed protein. Also as a pre workout meal add egg whites with a yolk or a whey protein shake in skim milk for slow absorbed effect pre workout. Another suggestion is to divide carbohydrates throughout the day on muscle gain along with protein at every meal (ratio of carbs more is to protein ). Also weight training with low reps and higher intensity is the key to seeing results on muscle gain.

Poly Cystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD) - Diet For It!

Poly Cystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD) - Diet For It!

A rising number of teenage girls in the country are getting affected with Poly Cystic Ovarian Disease or PCOD. Though an advanced menarche has become very rampant these days, there are many young women who are suffering from a delay in menarche which in turn is leading to PCOD as opined by gynaecologists. Obesity and sedentary lifestyle among young people have caused a rapid doubling of PCOD cases in the past five to eight years.

Occurrence and Symptoms:

Gynaecologists report that they get at least 15 fresh instances of PCOD cases, and a considerable number of teenagers aged 16-17 are not getting their menarche. Such patients are recommended to take a strictly balanced diet which will help them to lose weight. Initially, their mothers think that they would experience their menarche in proper time, but some girls are diagnosed with PCOD when taken to a family gynaecologist. Even worse, they could never imagine that their obesity can pave the way for such a grave health issue. PCOD can cause numerous other problems like delayed and irregular menses, rapid weight gain and tremendous difficulty in losing weight, developing acne and blocked skin pores.

Furthermore, it leads to thinning of hair and excessive growth of hair on chest, back and face. Infertility, continual miscarriage, high blood pressure and high blood sugar are also common with PCOD.

Help yourself with the right diet:

There is no proven evidence regarding the cause of PCOD though gynaecologists are of the opinion that some females possess a predisposition to this disease, and it may run hereditarily in the family. You can alleviate your PCOD symptoms to a considerable extent by regulating your diet properly.

Have loads of fruits and green leafy vegetables and try to abstain from dairy products as many experts believe that dairy products are a direct cause of an increase in insulin levels, which can aggravate skin troubles along with other PCOD symptoms. Avoiding red meat and eating lean meat instead will help the condition and reduce the chances of infertility. It is always recommended to avoid hydrogenated and saturated fats, which are normally found in animal and dairy-based food. Try to put a stop to cheese, cottage cheese, clarified butter, pork, lamb, beef, etc. and certain baked products like cookies, cakes and fudges as they will trigger a rise in your blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

The following dietary tips can be helpful with the condition:

  • High levels of the insulin hormone causes PCOS symptoms like high blood sugar, increased hair growth, weight gain etc. So, refined foods rich in fat and carbohydrates should be consumed in small amounts.
  • Whole foods in their natural, uncooked form should be consumed fruits, vegetables, nuts, beans etc. These are low glycemic foods that reduce the glucose circulation by insulin.
  • Intake of salt should be very limited. You should not consume more than 3 grams a day.
  • Green vegetables have antioxidants. These are good for women with PCOS because they have a high amount of oxidative stress.
  • Your daily diet should contain at least 30 grams of fiber to improve the digestion process and remove toxins.
  • Milk and dairy products are best avoided because milk helps to increase the level of testosterone (male hormone) in the body.
  • Soy products should also be avoided, especially if you are trying to conceive, because they interfere with the ovulation cycle.
  • Processed fat is harmful but essential fatty acids found in avocado, fish, olive oil and nuts are important for the body.
  • High levels of male hormones also cause high cholesterol. So foods which have high saturated fats like butter, cream, coconut oil and fatty meat should not be included in the regular diet of women with PCOS.
  • Protein-rich foods like lean meat, fish, legumes, whole grains are beneficial as protein can stabilize blood sugar. These foods also keep you feeling full and prevent over-eating.

PCOD is such a condition which you can never afford to overlook. If you had been facing any of the common symptoms, then it is probably time to pay a visit to a responsive gynaecologist.

Post hysterectomy, weight will surely go up due to hormonal changes that the body undergoes. I would need a detailed diet recall of what you eat from morning to night. Meanwhile to start with work on these few things for sure. First is to eat small meals at regular intervals for better metabolism and secondly to have complex carbohydrates over simple carbohydrates such as bajra Jowar Ragi oats and thirdly add low fat dairy in the diet for protein such as skim curd, skim yoghurt or skim paneer for higher metabolism. Fourthly also add omega 3 fats in terms of flaxseeds powder and walnuts to help a anti inflammatory effects to start seeing fat loss.
