Measure BP once every year, and if it is less than 140 don't worry about it. Exercise helps, balanced diet helps. Reduce alcohol, sugar, jaggery and starchy foods. Don't take a restricted diet.

My father is 73 years old, has pacemaker implanted, suffers from hypertension, takes medicine Telma 40. Recently,on two occasion he got sick, felt redness ,not able to walk, while on road and on checking ,BP was found as low as 87/46 etc. Further checking in home for two days revealed that in the morning his BP remains low like ,99/70 and in night like 169/99. Recently he got a wound and for that he had to take tedvac and medicines like cefixime 200+,Linezolid600, Chy moral forte, bifilac, amoxicillin and cloxacillin 625 etc as per advice of two different doctors. Now ,What may be the reason behind such BP fluctuation and what should be the treatment?

1) This BP fluctuation can be due to stress of infection for which he is being treated. It is common to find such extreme variations in BP in infections and hence the dose requirements of BP medicine changes. Probably taking the routine dose of medication is causing a sudden fall in his BP and his body reflexes are not able to respond to it leading to weakness and falls called as Vaso-Vagal syncope. 2) My suggestion is please get him thoroughly evaluated for infection and treated for that as well as consult your cardiologist for a pacemaker interrogation, echo and change of medication.

Limit your intake of foods full of saturated fats, trans fats, and dietary cholesterol. Eat a lot more fiber-rich foods (especially soluble fiber from foods like beans, oats, barley, fruits, and vegetables). Choose protein-rich plant foods (such as legumes or beans, nuts, and seeds) over meat. Lose as much excess weight as possible. Take plant sterol supplements.

Normal heart rate is 60-100. Your heart rate is slightly higher but that can be normal variation of heart rate and you don't have to worry just because one reading is high. If you are too concerned and since you are a diabetic you can get a basic cardiac evaluation done under a cardiologist which should include lipid profile, ECG, echo and TMT. Your BP is high and requires management with lifestyle changes and medications. For which you can be guided by a cardiologist after baseline evaluation. And please ensure that your sugar is well controlled and monitored.

My grandfather aged 75 in ECG Left complete branch block what medication needed for it.
Dear Lybrateuser, - Consult a cardiologist as left bundle branch block means the main blood vessel supplying blood to the heart is blocked & may require a intervention by the cardiologist to open up the vessel along with medication.

There are various conditions which increases your BP level throughout the day. Do go for at-least three readings in a day, and if then too BP increases, then contact us for homeopathic medicines.

1) It is important to find out why you have developed hypertension at such a young age, I hope you have been thoroughly evaluated by a cardiologist to find out the cause, if not then please consult a cardiologist for a thorough cardiac evaluation. 2) At this age first line of management is BP control through lifestyle changes and diet modifications if that does not adequately reduce BP then we can add some medications. 3) 40 mins of daily exercise, quitting alcohol and smoking and eating a healthy diet on the lines of DASH recommendations are lifestyle changes required. 4) It will be good to be under follow up of a cardiologist so that you can be routinely evaluated and your treatment modified accordingly.
