I m suffering from black and brown discharge from my vagina since 3 to 4 months approximately. What can I do. What is the reason of it?

Hello, You need to get a per speculum exam by a gynecologist and get a high vaginal swab smear to rule out any infection. This if has been continuous then a hormonal profile especially to look for progesterone deficiency would have to be undertaken. Regards

How to Tell the Difference Between a Heart Attack and a Panic Attack?

How to Tell the Difference Between a Heart Attack and a Panic Attack?

You feel your heart begin to beat wildly in your chest as you break into a cold sweat and have trouble catching your breath; is this a heart attack or panic attack? Your first thought is that it's a heart attack since you have an impending feeling of doom which you may even have felt before your attack began. This makes your heart beat even faster and you become so overwhelmed that the feeling gets even worse until you begin to feel light-headed or maybe even pass out. This is a panic attack.

When you suffer from anxiety, the slightest thing can trigger a panic attack and some can be so intense that you can't imagine it being anything other than looming death. It's very common for those having an anxiety attack to mistake it for a heart attack and this fear is enough to just take over and really wreak havoc on your heart rate, but no matter how fast your heart beats or how panicked you feel; you are not having a heart attack and this episode will not kill you.

One thing that will prove helpful in dealing with this is learning the differences between the two:

Signs of a Heart Attack:

  1. Pressure in the Chest (described as feeling like there is an elephant sitting on your chest).

  2. Chest pain - note that this is not always present.

  3. Sweating.

  4. Shortness of breath.

  5. Pain in the right arm.

  6. Pain in the back or shoulder blades for women.

  7. Nausea or vomiting.

Panic attack symptoms include:

  1. Increased heart rate.

  2. Sharp or stabbing chest pain that lasts only 5 to 10 seconds.

  3. Pain that is localized to one small area.

  4. Pain that usually occurs at rest.

  5. Pain that accompanies anxiety.

  6. Pain that is relieved or worsened when you change positions.

  7. Pain that can be reproduced or worsened by pressing over the area of pain.

The bottom line: Be vigilant and get checked out promptly. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can ask a free question.

Dear lybrate-user, though presence of a cyst (commonly ovarian cysts) need not necessarily be the cause of delayed pregnancy, they are an important factor. Cysts - ie ovarian - are usually follicles (or eggs) that grow abnormally and collect fluid within. Since normal follicular growth is stimulated by hormones - (brain, thyroid gland and the ovaries) - abnormal growth must also be related to hormones - hence the cause of cysts are hormonal imbalance. Not every person with cysts find it difficult to get pregnant. It depends on how bad the imbalance is, if there is any other coexisting problem, like obesity, thyroid imbalance, diabetes, anemia, which all have been linked to irregular periods. I'd advise you to meet a doctor (gynaec or other) and rule out the causes. Get a usg and thyroid, fsh, lh and hb tested. Until then, get your lifestyle in order, diet and activity, resolve issues with husband if any. Many a times, personal conflicts cause stress which can lead to hormonal disturbances and hence diseases. Once we know what your cause is, you can meet a homeopathic physician who will be able to treat both yur cysts as well as fertility at the same time.

Gestational Diabetes - Causes And Treatment

Gestational Diabetes - Causes And Treatment

Gestational diabetes is a form of diabetes where the blood sugar levels of the body increase during pregnancy. When you are expecting, your body is more repellent to insulin so that a larger amount of glucose is manufactured for the baby’s nourishment. However, this excess blood glucose can build up within the body which causes gestational diabetes. This can lead to health problems for both the mother and the baby. At the end of the gestational period i.e. once the baby is delivered, blood sugar reduces to normal.

When are you at a risk for gestational diabetes?

  1. Gestational diabetes can also be hereditary. If a family member or a relative has diabetes, you are more likely to develop gestational diabetes.

  2. If you are overweight, you are more susceptible to developing gestational diabetes.

What causes gestational diabetes?

During pregnancy, the placenta connects your baby to the blood supply. This produces other hormones which reduce the levels of insulin. This increases the level of blood sugar in your blood. As your baby develops, your body manufactures more of such hormones which block your insulin levels leading to gestational diabetes. This usually occurs from the 20th week of your pregnancy.

Complications:

  1. Increase in birth weight – Extra glucose crosses through the placenta which instigates the baby’s pancreas to manufacture more insulin. This can make your baby very large. Sometimes, it becomes difficult for the baby to pass through the birth canal during childbirth as a result.

  2. Premature birth and respiratory diseases – High blood sugar may increase the risk of an early labor. It may make the baby due before the 37th week of pregnancy. This also makes the baby more susceptible to respiratory disorders.

  3. High blood pressure – Gestational diabetes also raises your risks for high blood pressure. This can be fatal for you as well as your baby’s health.

Treatment:

  1. Book an appointment with a dietitian and follow a healthy eating schedule. Limit the amount of carbohydrates and ensure you have a healthy and balanced meal.

  2. Do light exercises regularly during pregnancy. This helps you to control your blood sugar level. Physical activities which require low levels of energy utilization such as swimming and walking will control your blood sugar level without exerting you too much.

  3. Taking insulin shots and medicine for diabetes will also control your blood sugar levels if you have a pre-existing condition. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a gynaecologist.

I am 28 year male and my wife also 28 married from six months and we are planning for a baby from these six months and after months my wife s periods got missed and we opt for test which was negative after that my wife consulted a gynaecologist nd she advised her mytol f for three months. During these 3 months my wife s periods got regulated. Now after these 3 months my wife again consulted the doctor where she advised her to stop usage of mytol f and prescribed chrominac a. Now she is taking chrominac a from the last 20 days again she got missed period and we apparently opted for and which unfortunately shows negative result. My question is what should I do now should I wait little more for one more test r should I consult a doctor again. Nd also my wife's thyroid was also nt in rite frame and she was taking medicine for that for 3 months. I also got her thyroid tests which shows tsh 5.59.

Tsh 5.59 is borderline report and does not need any medicine like eltroxin for thyroid disease. Mytol f is a vague medicine given for infertility & pcod, no studies have been done yet to make any claims, chrominac a is most probably some food supplement with tall claims but none of them is a hormone, to affect fertility of your wife. She does not need any medicine for thyroid or to get treated for infertility, if ultrasound reports are normal and show follicles on day 10-12 of cycle / and your semen test is normal. You have been married for only 6 months and she missed her cycle once, it can be due to stress, wait for few more months minus doctors or medicines, may be nature will be kind to you, do write back about your report and her ultrasound test. Remember more tension and stress, less are the chances of getting pregnant the natural way.

It is not a good idea that you decide and go for that scanning. For those who find difficult to have pregnancy detailed and many reports are required for both husband and wife so it is better to meet Gynecologist or infertility specialist if you have given enough time to nature i.e. Unprotected sex for 12-24 months.

Hello, it is likely that your wife may have been dehydrated and in a habit of taking less water during the day. Also most common reason of weakness in indian women is anemia which has to be treated with iron supplement once diagnosed. Get a hemoglobin test done and review with reports.
