About Ventryl D 2 Mg/5 Mg Syrup

This syrup is the combination of three medicine and include Phenylephrine, Chlorpheniramine Maleate and Dextromethorphan. It is an antihistamine which works by blocking the action of histamine in the body. It is used for relieving symptoms of sinus pressure, sinus congestion, runny nose, itching of the throat and nose, watery eyes, and sneezing due to upper respiratory infections, hay fever and allergies.

You are advised to not use this medicine if you are allergic to it or if you are taking or have taken sodium oxybate, furazolidone or a monoamine oxidase inhibitor within the last 14 days. Before using this drug, inform your doctor if you have breathing problems, glaucoma, heart problems, liver disease, high blood pressure, seizures, overactive thyroid, stomach problems or urination problems.

Phenylephrine works by narrowing the swelling of blood vessels in the ear and nose, thereby providing great relief from discomfort. Chlorpheniramine is a first-generation antihistamine, which is used to prevent allergic symptoms from conditions such as urticaria and rhinitis. This drug binds to the histamine H1 receptor, which prevents the action from endogenous histamine. Dextromethorphan works as a decongestant by suppressing the nervous system and the part of your brain which is responsible for coughing. It does not really thin the mucus, but certainly provides relief.
