Hello, thanks for the query.
Both the brands contain levothyroxine, so using any one of them is fine. However, what is important is to continue using the same brand as your body is used to it. Please also check the tsh levels, because maintaining tsh around 3 to 4 mu/l is essential to remain free from symptoms. Thanks.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
WHen one is on treatment with adequate dose of Levothyroxine, TSH is maintained around 3 to 4mU/L. At that level all the symptoms are in check. If TSH level goes higher (as in your case), it suggests that your thyroxine dose is not enough. Therefore, your doctor has suggested the additional dose of the same. Please check tSH level after 6 to 8 weeks of taking that doe, to find out if TSH has come down as mentioned above. Thanks.

It depends on your previous tsh values. If it's the first time you need to check tpo antibodies. If you're asymptomatic I will prefer to leave it aside. However if the antibody test is positive there's a strong chance that you might need thyroid replacement in the future.

lybrate-user ji, thanks for the query.
Please mention the thyroid function test results (t3, t4 & tsh levels), then only I will be able to give an opinion. Agar aap ko hypothyroidsm hai aur usaka ilaj nahi kiya hai to aap ka vajan badh jayega. Usake saath monthly period ko bhi problem ho sakata hai. Aur baki ke bahut sare symptoms bhi ayenge. So please come back with following detail: weight, height, t3, t4 & tsh levels and any treatment being taken. Thanks.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
TSH 11.3 mU/L is too high. When one is on treatment with adequate dosage of levothyroxine, TSH should be maintained around 3 to 4 mU/L. Then all the symptoms related to hypothyroidism are in complete check. So you will have to increase the dosage by 12.5 mcg to (50 + 12.5 = 62.5 mcg) to 62.5 mcg per day. Plus I am sure you are aware that thyroxine tablets have to be taken on empty stomach early morning and then nothing should be taken for at least 1 to 1.and half...more

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
The condition you are having is hypothyroidism and the treatment for that is to take adequate dosage of Levothyroxine (Eltroxine). This is because your thyroid is not producing enough of hormone Thyroxine. Anti Thyrox tablets are totally different, used to treat Hyperthyroidism, that is when Thyroid gland is producing excess of hormone thyroxine. I hope you understand. Thanks.

Both are thyroxine hormone preparation, manufactured by two different companies. No one is better, both are good. Continue whichever you are taking. No need to change it.

Hello, thanks for the query.
I have seen the point mentioned in the query. Both the products contain same medication. So there is no question of one being better than the other. It is usually advised to stick to the brand which one is using. So if you are using thyrox please stick to that. What is important is to take adequate dosage and that too regularly and on empty stomach and then nothing should be taken for next 1 hour. Thanks.

You need to check your thyroid profile, blood sugar fasting and pp from some lab. In the meanwhile follow this 1. Don't take tea empty stomach. Eat something like a banana (if you are not diabetic) or any seasonal fruit or soaked almonds and a glass of water first thing in the morning (within 10 mins of waking up). No only biscuits or rusk will not do. 2. Don't overeat 3. Take your breakfast every day. Don't skip it. U should eat whatever your mother or grandparent eat in bfast. I mean to say wh...more

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
When one is on treatment with adequate dose of Levothyroxine, TSH is usually maintained between 3 to 4 mU/L. At that level, most of the symptoms are in check. Usually after starting treatment initially TSH should be checked after 6 o 8 weeks to see if the desired level is reached. Then accordingly dosage of thyroxine should be adjusted in the range of 12.5 to 25 mcg per day. Drastic change in dose is not advisable. If TSH goes below 0.1 mU/L there may ...more
