About Syndopa Plus Tablet

Syndopa Plus tablet is a combination medicine which is used to treat Parkinson’s and other associated disease with similar symptoms. It is used to cure symptoms like shakiness, stiffness, tremors, spasms, shivering and slow movements.

Its active ingredients include Carbidopa and Levodopa. Syndopa Plus helps increase dopamine levels in brain which in turn reduces the above mentioned symptoms.

It is advisable to inform the doctor about current medication (vitamins and herbal supplements), health conditions like pregnancy or possible surgeries and allergies.

Syndopa Plus tablet is not recommended for pregnant or lactating women. It should also be avoided by patients suffering from severe liver and kidney aliments and for patients less than 18 years of age.

    How does this medication work?

    This is an amino-acid precursor of dopamine which has antiparkinson properties. Levodopa crosses the blood-brain barrier and is decarboxylated to dopamine, which is then available to activate dopaminergic receptors. It compensates for the reduced supply of dopamine observed in Parkinson’s disease. Carbidopa works as a peripheral decarboxylase inhibitor, hence prevents the levodopa breakdown and allow it to enter the brain and increase the level of dopamine.

        Consumption of alcohol while on treatment with Syndopa Plus increases risk of serious side effects like vomiting, nausea, weakness, dizziness, fainting and confusion.

        Syndopa Plus has negative interactions with the following drugs – Nitrofurantoin, Captopril, Furosemide, Deoxidopa, Amiodarone, Alprazolam and Atorvastatin.

        Patients suffering from allergies, acute narrow angle glaucoma, alcoholism, asthma, high blood pressure, hormone problems, depression, heart problem, liver and kidney aliments should avoid consumption of Syndopa Plus tablets.
