About Spasmol Tablet

Spasmol Tablet is a combination medicine primarily prescribed for the management of mild to moderate pain. This medicine is commonly helpful in treating cramps and abdominal pain and also relieves fever associated with it.

This is a combination medication which has Dicyclomine, Dextropropoxyphene, and Paracetamol as active ingredients. It is known as an antispasmodic drug. This tablet is used for the treatment of pain. It reduces the symptoms of intestinal and stomach cramping.

This medicine works by slowing down the natural movements of the gut and by relaxing the stomach and intestine muscles. The dosage is based on your age, medical condition, and your response to the medicine. Your doctor may direct you to start this medication at a low dose and gradually increase your dose to decrease the risk of side effects.

Take as directed; do not take a larger dose or more often than prescribed. Do not use alcohol, other prescription or OTC sedatives, tranquillizers, antihistamines, or pain medications without consulting prescriber.

If you experience vomiting or loss of appetite, frequent mouth care, small frequent meals, chewing gum, or sucking lozenges may help. Increased fluid intake, exercise, fiber in diet may help with constipation (if unresolved consult prescriber).

May cause dizziness, drowsiness, or impaired judgment; avoid driving or engaging in tasks requiring alertness until response to drug is known. Report unresolved nausea or vomiting, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, or unusual weakness.

    How does this medication work?

    This medication treats smooth muscle spasms in the gastrointestinal tract which occurs due to irritable bowel syndrome. It blocks the acetylcholine receptors present on the smooth muscles thereby causing the muscles to relax. Also, it controls excessive secretion from the not only stomach but also from bronchial, tracheal and pharyngeal muscles. Dextropropoxyphene is an opioid analgesic (pain reliever). It works by decreasing the perception of pain by blocking the transmission of pain signals to the brain.

      Whenever you take more than one medicine, or mix it with certain foods or beverages, you"re at risk of a drug interaction.

        Additive CNS effects, avoid or limit alcohol; watch for sedation.

        • Decreased effect with charcoal, cigarette smoking; increased toxicity with cimetidine, CNS depressants.
        • Increased toxicity/effect of carbamazepine, phenobarbital, TCAs, MAO inhibitors, benzodiazepines.

        Use with caution in patients with severe renal or hepatic dysfunction.

        May decrease rate of absorption, but may slightly increase bioavailability. Glucose may cause hyperglycemia; monitor blood glucose concentrations
