Dear lybrate-user,
disulfiram can not be given to rajesh unless he is willing to take it. He needs to sign a consent form of psychiatrist who educated him on disulfiram - alcohol reaction that can be fatal at times. Rajesh needs to carry a card with him always about his disulfiram intake. It will save his life in case he takes alcohol.

If you are having disulfiram and drinking after that, you will suffer from vomiting and tiredness. If you aren't drinking, you might need some other medications for the symptoms.

There are no interactions between the two, you can use them. But consult a psychiatrist before taking prodep as the antidepressants are tailored to the symptoms. All the best.

To de addict him there are other treatments like motivational enhancement therapy, anti craving tablets and treatment of withdrawal symptoms. Please consult a doctor nearby, preferably a psychiatrist. She/he will plan an appropriate treatment. Your father may need treatment for other medical and psychiatric illnesses also along w...more

Then for next 9-12 months, he will be given anti-craving medicines and focus will be on prevention of lapses and relapses.

Dear Neeraj,
It is nice that you get disulfiram reaction on you face itself. It is a good aversion for you not to drink alcohol. For that benefit only, disulfiram was given originally.
Disulfiram has a long half life - that means, after stopping disulfiram, for it to leave your body it takes time. So it is possible for you to have its reaction, even without disulfiram.
It takes more time to leave your body, if your liver has not improved after stopping alcohol. Disulfiram gets digest...more
