About Psorinol 1.15% W/W Ointment

Psorinol 1.15% W/W Ointment is used in the treatment of people with chronic psoriasis. It is available in the forms of creams, ointment or pastes. It has a much slower start in controlling psoriasis which takes typically several weeks, compared to its alternative glucocorticoid steroids.

It should not be used on the face or genitalia. When applied, it can temporarily stain the skin to a yellowy-brown colour and permanently stain any coloured fabric and other materials such as ceramic sinks.

It also may cause a slight burning sensation and irritation. It can be minimized by paying attention to the details of treatment given by the doctor. The surrounding skin around the affected area can be protected by using a soft white paraffin and the area being treated is covered with tube gauze.
