About Planep T Tablet

This is a combination medication which has Eplerenone and Torsemide as active ingredients. It is used for the treatment of conditions such as hypertension, congestive heart failure, and left ventricular systolic dysfunction. This medication works by blocking the effect of the aldosterone hormone which is responsible for raising blood pressure.

This medication should be taken in doses prescribed by the doctor. The dosage depends on conditions such as medical condition, diet, age, and counteraction with other medicines.

      Taking this medication with alcohol may lead to headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, changes in pulse or heart rate and/or low blood pressure.
      Taking Torsamide with alcohol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.

    • Are there any pregnancy warnings?

      This medication is probably safe to use during pregnancy.
      Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.

    • Are there any breast-feeding warnings?

      Unknown. Human and animal studies are not available. Please consult your doctor.

    • Is it safe to drive while on this medicine?

      Caution is advised when driving or operating machinery.
      It may cause dizziness. Exercise caution if you have to drive or operate a machinery.

    • Does this affect kidney function?

      Contraindicated in Patients with severe renal impairment.

    • Does this affect liver function?

      There is no interaction between liver impairment and consuming this drug. So dose alteration is not needed.

    How does this medication work?

    This medication is a popular steroidal antimineralocorticoid, which is used to treat and prevent heart failure. It binds with the mineralocorticoid receptors so that aldosterone cannot form a bond with the same. Torsemide belongs to the class loop diuretics. It reduces the blood pressure by inhibiting Na-K-2Cl reabsorption at ascending loop of Henle. This helps in increasing the excretion of water and sodium.
