You need to take medication as per your doctor's recommendation. Do not discontinue, alter, modify or change it in any way. Take it for the prescribed period of time. Premature termination of treatment can lead to relapse or worsening of symptoms. It becomes more difficult to treat after that.

No, you should not take methylphenidate for this. Rather than adding one more medication just to avoid side effect of current medications better option is to modify your current medication regime. You may take these medications in night if you are taking in day or change the medication if you already taking them in night. Consult your treating psychiatrist or take second opinion from another psychiatrist nearby or online. All the best.

Don't add another antidepressant if you are on opipramol.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT is one of the most successful ways to deal with anxiety. Multiple doctors and therapists recommend I do it. I still have yet to do it so I can't say from personal experience that it's successful, but I know from careful research, it is very helpful.

Therapy, in general, is very helpful as well. Not many people understand or have time to listen to what you want to talk about, but therapists are paid to do that very thing. In fact, they are curio...more

Dear Lybrate-User,
Opipramol is usually prescribed for some psychiatric illness most commonly anxiety/depression. Most psychiatric medication takes usually 15 days to a month to start its effect and relief from complaints are usually obtained after 1.5 to 3 months. Consult your doctor to help you explain approximate time taken to have relief from the condition.
