Natrilam 5 Tablet Sr

This is a combination medication which has Amlodipine and Indapamide as active ingredients. It acts as a calcium channel blocker. This improves blood flow by dilating blood vessels. Also, it is used to treat angina, high blood pressure, and coronary heart disease. This medication is recommended in case of heart failure if other medications fail to work.

Some side effects of this medication include swelling, abdominal pain, feeling tired and nausea. Serious side effects include low blood pressure or a mild heart attack. Dosage should be low for elderly people and those with liver problems. If you have heart problems then the intake of this tablet may increase your health problems.

This medication is a calcium channel blockers. It works by inhibiting the entry of calcium into the cardiac and vascular smooth muscles and prevents the contraction of the muscles and thereby reduces the blood pressure. Indapamide is a diuretic anti-hypertensive agent. It acts by blocking the activity of proteins KCNQ1 and KCNE1 which inhibits the delayed rectifier potassium current slow component (IKs) without affecting the rapid component (IKr). It also stimulates vasodilator prostaglandin PGE2 synthesis.

  Rifampin

• Interaction with Disease

  Hypotension

  This medication is not recommended in patients suffering from hypotension or cardiogenic shock as it further reduces the blood pressure.

  Grapefruit juice

  Consumption of grapefruit juice is not recommended as it increases the concentration of this medication. Inform the doctor if you experience dizziness, headache, swelling of hands and feet is necessary.
