The excess salt is then excreted by the body through the urine. The drug is primarily used to control fluid retention in the body of patients suffering from liver disease, kidney problems and congestive heart failure. Thus, the drug helps in the creation of more urine which gets rid of excess fluid and salt produced in the body.
