Biologics are very good drugs, if used judiciously and has changed the way RA can be treated. You can technically use leflunomide, methotrexate etc, but many times they are intolerable. Cleft lip and cleft palate are the two most common birth defects affecting children all over the world. What happens in the cleft lip is that the upper lip is incompletely formed and in cleft palate abnormalities, we see babies with an incompletely formed roof of the mouth. Both these can be found individually or can occur together. These conditions can be severe or mild and affect one or both sides of the face.

Cleft lip is an oral and facial malformation that occurs in the early stages of pregnancy, when the foetus is still developing inside the mother s womb. The lips are not formed properly because the tissue that is responsible for their formation does not completely develop before the baby is born. This leads to a gap in the upper lip. The gap can be small or extended to the edge of the nose. In some cases, the slit is in the middle of the lips, or on both corners of the lips.
