About Lanzol 15 MG Sachet

Lanzol 15 MG Sachet is primarily used as a short-term treatment (up to 4 weeks) for healing and symptom relief of active duodenal ulcers (should not be used for maintenance therapy of duodenal ulcers). It is also used as part of a multiple-drug regimen for H. pylori eradication.

This medicine belongs to a class of medicines called proton pump inhibitors which work by decreasing acid production in the stomach. It effectively controls the pH of stomach secretions and acts as an alternative to intravenous pantoprazole in those who cannot swallow solid-dose formulations.

Lanzol 15 MG Sachet is also prescribed as a short-term treatment of symptomatic GERD; up to 8 weeks of treatment for all grades of erosive esophagitis (8 additional weeks can be given for incompletely healed oesophagal erosions or for recurrence).

Lanzol 15 MG Sachet is also prescribed for the long-term treatment of pathological hypersecretory conditions, including Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is also used to treat frequent heartburns happening 2 or more times a week.

Some side effects of taking Lanzol 15 MG Sachet include nausea, stomach pain, diarrhoea, constipation, and headache. Stop the medication and consult your doctor immediately if you experience any serious side effects like seizure, kidney problems or symptoms of low magnesium in body. Inform your doctor if you have the following conditions before taking the medication :

  • Liver disease
  • Low magnesium level in your blood
  • Low bone mineral density
  • Trouble with swallowing
  • Bloody or black stools or vomit.
  • Unexplained loss of weight
  • Metabolic disorder
  • Pregnant or breast-feeding a baby

Over the counter Lanzol 15 MG Sachet should not be given to anyone who is 18 years of age or younger. Initial recommended dose is 30mg, taken orally once daily for 8 weeks. Maintenance dose for Lanzol 15 MG Sachet is 15mg, taken once a day. Dosage may differ from person to person depending on their medical condition.

      • Interaction with Alcohol

        Interaction with alcohol is unknown. It is advisable to consult your doctor before consumption.
      • Interaction with Lab Test

        Patients with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome should be monitored for gastric acid output, which should be maintained at 10 mEq/hour or less during the last hour before the next lansoprazole dose; lab monitoring should include CBC, liver function, renal function, and serum gastrin levels.
      • Interaction with Medicine

        Clopidogrel

        Report the use of either of the medicine to the doctor. Your doctor may prescribe a safer alternative for reducing the stomach acidity while you are being treated with Clopidogrel.

        Ketoconazole

        This medicine should be used with Ketoconazole or other antifungals of the same group with caution. Inform the doctor about the usage of either of these medications so that safer alternatives can be prescribed.

        Methotrexate

        Lanzol 15 MG Sachet should not be used with Methotrexate. Use of either of the drugs should be reported to the doctor so that safer substitute could be prescribed.

        Warfarin

        Usage of Lanzol 15 MG Sachet with Warfarin should be strictly monitored by the doctor. Suitable adjustment in dosage and monitoring of Prothrombin time is necessary to ensure safety. Any symptoms like unusual bleeding, swelling, vomiting, presence of blood in urine should be reported immediately.

        Nelfinavir

        This medicine is not recommended for use when the patient is already taking anti-viral medications like Nelfinavir or other drugs used in the management of HIV Infection.

        Digoxin

        This medicine should be used with caution if the patient is on Digoxin. Prior usage of any of these drugs should be informed to the doctor. Any symptoms like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, disturbances in vision, and abnormalities in heartbeat should be reported immediately.

        Osteoporosis
