Mr. lybrate-user, There is brand by name "Mixtard 30/70 InnoLet 3 ml injection. Usually concerned company persons do visit and explain how to use the Insulin Pens. So while buying it from the local chemist ask him to send the particular company representative to demonstrate the usage. The cartridges are 3 ml while vial is bigger. So please get all the details before switching over. Pens are definitely much easier to use. Thanks.

You can take a basugine (glargine) substitute for lantus it comes in vial form and much cheaper.
Ask your diabetologist to shift you from rapid acting lispro (humalog) to regular insulin (actrapid) which is cheaper but you need to take it 30 mins before each meal as action is little slower.
lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
Insulin happens to be the best treatment for diabetes, because diabetes occurs due to its (insulin's) deficiency. Secondly if a person is having T1 Dm then only drug that can be used is Insulin. In T2 DM there are a number of oral drugs available. Since you have neither mentioned your age or type of diabetes, it is difficult to answer your question. My suggestion is please come back with following details: age, type of diabetes, weight, height, fasting & PP glucose levels, HbA1c%, dietary pattern & extent of daily exercise. It will be good if you come in a private conversation, then I will be able to give very specific guidance and even the prescriptions. In this communication we are supposed to give just general guidelines, no prescription can be given. Further unless all the details are known, it is difficult to know the present control of diabetes in you. Thanks.
4 fingers away from belly button. (approx 2 inches); as area around the belly is highly sensitive. Injection may cause pain in this area.
By the way, paradigms of diabetes have changed now, and we need to go beyond just blood sugar control to avoid complications of diabetes. And Ayurveda is proven to play an excellent role in this issue to help patients in correcting the diabetes pathology beyond bs control by insulin alone. I hv been a practising ayurvedic diabetologist since last 14 years and will be able to help you if you book my on line appointment. Rgds.
