Hello, Thanks for the query.
Tablet Glynase MF contains Glibeclamide an earlier sulfonylurea and Glycomet GP contains Glimiperide. Both are different. Can not be just replaced one for another. You have to talk to your doctor about the dosage when change is being made. Thanks.

Mr. M s sodhi, you have mentioned fasting sugar level as 130 - 180 mg, which appears pretty high. What is the recent pp level? hba1c% looks good. When does the sugar level go down is there a specific pattern or time of the day? your lipid profile details are not given fully. Important ones are total cholesterol, hdl, ldl and triglyceride, you have not mentioned those. Tsh level is also high, it should be below 5 mill units / ml. Are you taking any medications for hypothyroidism and dyslipidemia?...more

Mr. Lybrate-user, to reduce blood sugar levels, apart from appropriate medication, exercise and diet control are equally important. So you have exercise daily for at least 1 hour, brisk walk is a good option. Plus diet should be restricted to give exact calories based on sugar levels, daily exercise and ideal body weight.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
I have seen the details given. The glucose levels mentioned are too low and pretty dangerous. There is a need to reduce one of the drugs being taken. If the patient is 74 years old, then Glibeclamide (Glynase) needs to be discontinued as it has very long duration of action (over 16 hours) hence in older persons it tends to cause severe hypoglycemia. So please discontinue that and then after a week check the FBG & PP glucose. If you have any questions please do ...more

Diabetes can be controlled with diet exercise and medicines. Take your medicines properly. You have to get eye check up done from an ophthalmologist, as diabetes affects retina. However, the refraction (specs number) can be different when sugars are very high.

Do not worry. Please follow a disciplined and healthy lifestyle. If you become active and eat the right food then your health status will improve a lot. Start with daily exercise for 30 minutes. Then increase it to 1 hour. You can do yoga and pranayama to balance your health. Revert after one month. You can add Homeopathy after that. You can contact me online if needed for Homeopathic treatment.
