Etifem 200Mg Tablet is a drug that is mainly used to treat the problem of bone loss and brittle bones, caused especially in menopausal women that may eventually lead to osteoporosis. It also used in the treatment of Padget’s syndrome and heterotopic ossification in people who have had total hip replacements or have sustained injury to the spine.
Etifem 200Mg Tablet is a bisphosphonate that works by binding to hydroxyapatite crystals in the matrix of the bone. This results in the reduction of the number of osteoclasts which in turn decreases bone resorption. It may also induce bone formation by stimulating osteoblasts.
Etifem 200Mg Tablet should be taken once a day at the same time on an empty stomach. Take the tablet with a glass of water and sit or stand after taking the drug. Do not eat or drink anything, especially dairy products and do not take any other medications including antacids and vitamin supplements that may contain magnesium, calcium, aluminium or iron. Do not take this medicine if you have osteomalacia or kidney problems.
The most common side effects include nausea, diarrhoea, heartburn, difficulty swallowing, blisters or rashes on the skin, pain in the joints or muscles. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of these side effects.
