Dear , zeptol (carbamazepine) is a teratogenic drug, that may harm the foetus. It is ok to take it now. You delay pregnancy by few years (5 years). By the time of pregnancy you may try gradually tapering and stopping it. If not possible few other safer anti-epileptic medicines like lamotrigine may be tried, although small risk of cleft palate is there, but no very serious risk.

Hello and welcome to Lybrate. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Zen retard 200 mg tabletfunctions as an anticonvulsant, and decreases the occurrence of abnormal nerve impulses in the brain which can lead to severe reactions like seizures and acute pain. The drug essentially treats nerve pains like trigeminal neuralgia as well as diabetic neuropathy. Moreover, the drug also effectively treats bipolar disorder.
I suggest telephonic counseling for you.

As she is taking zeptol 400 (carbamazepine) regularly, it is the drug of choice for this condition too along with valproate and is quite safe too. This medicine is not the cause for diabetes and hyperchlesterolemia. But as she has already taken medications for more than 15 years with out occurance of single episode of convulsion and un...more
