Need to discuss more personally. Alcoholism in addiction is a disease stage and need good will power and counselling and motivation to withdraw. Tell me privately your family life and all details and whether he has any disease and whether he is willing to stop. Disulfiram will only make drinking an unpleasant experience and create aversion to drinking, but can cause adverse reactions you consult me privately for a personalised advice.

Dear lybrate-user,
disulfiram can not be given to rajesh unless he is willing to take it. He needs to sign a consent form of psychiatrist who educated him on disulfiram - alcohol reaction that can be fatal at times. Rajesh needs to carry a card with him always about his disulfiram intake. It will save his life in case he takes alcohol.

If you are having disulfiram and drinking after that, you will suffer from vomiting and tiredness. If you aren't drinking, you might need some other medications for the symptoms.

There are no interactions between the two, you can use them. But consult a psychiatrist before taking prodep as the antidepressants are tailored to the symptoms. All the best.

Yes, you are being treated for depression and you are using Antabuse medication and should not consume alcohol. In fact, it is hazardous. Your addiction may be related to your depression, or it can be the other way around i.e. your alcoholism may have induced your depression. Now you need to continue your therapy or at least attend AA meetings for at least 3 years to be completely out of your addiction and depression. Please stop drinking and attend therapy and resolve your issues connected to d...more

Dear lybrate-user,
Many psychiatrists are trained in addiction medicines. It is better that you consult one of them.
