My wife, she has autistic spectrum, struggles with ringworm since july, it had been confirm by pharmacist who checked her skin. She is so stressed and in panic about it. She tried canesten cream with no result, lamisil cream with little result but some were still appearing. She tried daktarin miconazole nitrate with better results but with skin irritation where her skin is thinner and few rings are still appearing. She has a very thick skin, far thicker than normal. Now she has a mild fever as well. We clean all the laundry and bed sheets very often with something added to the normal detergent to kill bacterias and fungus. She keeps perfect hygiene. She has been taking fluconazole tablets, one every three days, for almost three weeks. What else could be done?

Hi, lamisil, miconazole are all antifungal medicines so they should help. Along with creams, try and keep skin irritation free. Wear loose breathable fabrics. Sweating, moisture, pressure, warmth, friction can all make fungal infection worse so are to be avoided. Antifungal tablets can be prescribed for 1 or 2 months depending on the severity of the fungal rash. The cream has to be applied till the rash completely disappears and for a week more. My husband has fungal infection (ringworm in private area) .its going to be more then year he is using daktarin 30g and daktarin powder. Sometimes when itch becomes worse we use opezol b on it. Because of storied in it itch redness goes finished. 6 months back he used to eat tablets (ebastel 10 mg and etrazole)

I think medicines given to him are ok. Prevention is very much necessary. Good personal hygiene, avoiding dampness in folds. Regualr bath twice a day if possible, antibacterial and anti fungal soap, avoiding polyfibre or denim clothes, use of cotton is necessary. Because of long duration and location of problem he must visit same skin specialist very regularly for follow up and treatment changes. Even after cure recurrence is common hence continued and long duration care.

You have to take both systemic and topical antifungals. If extensive you can apply antifungal shampoo mixed wt water and let it soak on your skin for five minutes minimum nd den wash off. Do it weekly thrice.
