Hi lybrate-user,
it would be better if you use any plain talcum powder than a medicated one. Most patients with friction problem won't have any fungal issues so a medicated powder is not advised as if you later, god forbid, need any antifungal treatment, then they won't work.
Best wishes.

Fungal infections of skin may be tinea, candidal and many more. Most common infection is tinea also called as ring worm. This needs treatment with oral and topical antifungals. Period of treatment varies from patient to patient depending on the type of response. It may be weeks or months. Expecting cure in few days and running from one doctor to another will cause you more harm than good. Be patient and stick to one doctor. Make sure you are consulting a qualified dermatologist.

Dear lybrate-user
response to medical treatment depends on many things. Assuming that you don't have any co-morbidities and are taking proper preventive measures to control fungal infection, clotrimazole cream may take upto 2-3 weeks to clear fungus when applied twice daily.
Oral antifungal treatment may be required.

no I s a dermatophyte, a type of fungal infection of the groin region in either sex, though more often seen in males.
The fungicidal allylamines (naftifine and terbinafine) and butenafine (allylamine derivative) are a more costly group of topical tinea treatments, yet they are more convenient as they allow for a shorter duration of treatment compared with fungistatic azoles (clotrimazole, econazole, ketoconazole, oxiconazole. The rash may clear up quickly with these treatments, but continue ...more

Hello Anubhav,
The red itchy patches that yo are referring to can be due to some allergy and some more information will be required about it to evaluate the reason. If it is only allergy related, it can be reduced and can even stop.
