It is prescribed by doctors as it kills malaria parasites that invade the red blood cells. Thus, this medication is a part of a group of medications which are known as antimalarials. It effectively treats malaria, but does not prevent the onset of the disease. This drug should be taken as per the instructions given by a doctor. It is meant for oral consumption, and it is generally recommended that patients should take it along with food, so as to reduce the chances of a stomach upset. The drug is generally prescribed for about 3-7 days and should be taken after every 8 hours. Make sure that you do not stop the use of this syrup in the mid half way. It is best that you finish the course of this medication in order to be fully cured of the infection. If you do not complete the prescribed course, it may complicate your condition further. The drug has a few side-effects that includes slight headache, nausea and dizziness, sweating, blurry vision, flushing. In case if any of these side effects continue for a long period of time or become increasingly severe, consult your doctor immediately.
