Microalbuminuria is the presence of a slightly high level of protein in the urine.
A microalbumin test is used to detect early signs of kidney damage in people who are at risk of developing kidney disease. Albumin is one of the first proteins to leak when kidneys become damaged.

Protein is present in the blood; healthy kidneys should only filter tiny (trace) amounts into the urine as most protein molecules are too large for the filters (glomeruli). ... Several proteins can be found in the urine, but the most relevant to kidney disease is albumin.

Treatment of low albumin is treatment of underlying cause. Till then only treatment is giving albumin from outside. Half life of this albumin is very short and it is rapidly excreted from body. Underlying causes are liver disease- liver is unable to synthesise albumin, kidney disease- kidney rapidly excretes all protein, or malnutrition.
